Careless disobedience to God’ s law results in Uzzah’s death.1 chron 13:9-14

The ark was simply an ornate box with no supernatural power.. However as a representation of God’s presence among His people, it reflected God’ s holiness.

The law is clear _ the ark of the covenant is never to be touched with human hands.The law instructs the levites to carry it with poles inserted into rings on its side.Num 4:15 says that touching the ark or its holy articles will result in death.

But Uzzah and his brother who are non_ levites were carrying it on ox cart _ the same vehicle the Philistines had used (1 Sam 6:7). When the oxen stumbled and Uzzah stepped it to catch the ark,lord’s anger burned against Uzzah and struck him down.So he died before the lord.

God had told them how to honor the ark,a sign of His presence.Their sloppiness revealed a lack of concern for God’s honor

But when the ark was left at the home of obed_ edom, God’s power blessed his whole house hold. Those who had reverence for the ark as a symbol of holy God enjoyed God’s blessings.

God is amazingly patient with us because of our ignorance and disregard for His word If He does discipline us, it is for our blessing.Ps 94:12

So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance.

But he did not inquire of the Lord, therefore He killed and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.

We serve a God who is faithful to His promises, what He promises, He fulfills, we may be foolish and not faithful to Him, but He is always faithful to His word and promises. The above scripture portion tells us that Saul was unfaithful to God, because he did not keep the word of the Lord and also because he consulted a medium for guidance, so He killed him and turned the kingdom over to David.

Faithfulness, gratefulness and thankfulness pays in the kingdom of God. Many of us don’t receive much from God because we are not faithful, grateful and thankful, we do not receive blessings and miracles from God, because we do not tell others about the love of God and the miracles that He has performed in our lives. How and why should God perform miracles in our lives when we are not faithful, grateful and thankful for the blessings and miracles that He has already performed ?. The secret to receive from God is to be faithful, grateful and thankful and tell others about the miracles that God had done in our lives, and then we will be fruitful in every area of our lives.

The reason why Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and David were successful in their walk with God is, because they were faithful grateful and thankful to God in every times and seasons of their lives, they didn’t leave God when their times were bad, even though they lost everything they didn’t leave God, but followed Him and God sustained, elevated and promoted them and used them all for the expansion of His kingdom on this earth.

Saul did not do big mistakes like David, the small mistakes that Saul did was not wait for Samuel to come and offer the sacrifices. Saul did not destroy everything when God asked him to destroy everything he brought some sheep and oxen, whereas David had committed adultery with Bathsheba and planned the murder of her husband Uriah. David committed mistakes, but he always repented and came back to God. The biggest mistake that Saul did was to consult medium spirits for guidance instead of the living God and he never repented and came back to God ( when you drift away from God, the devil takes over, its either God or the devil ).

Some time ago a leader from a prominent denomination gathered leaders from different backgrounds on one platform and tried to convey to the world that all religions are one ( how can the living God and the gods of this world become one, wonder what will he stand for if not for God on this earth, wonder what he will teach and preach to his denomination when he himself doesn’t know the difference between the living God and the gods of this world ). Right from the days of the old covenant many leaders have led the children of God astray with false teachings to other gods and it has also successfully entered into the new covenant church. It is time that the church of God learns, realises, teaches and preaches that the living God doesn’t share His glory with others and that light and darkness, God and the devil are not the same and that they cannot share the same platform, when the light steps in and shines darkness has to leave, when God steps in the devil has no other option left but to simply leave and wait for its end, when it will be thrown into the fires of hell where it will burn continually for eternity.

How long will you falter between two opinions?. If the Lord is God follow Him, but if Baal, follow him.

Heavenly Father thank You for the word, thank You that even though we are foolish and not faithful, You are faithful to Your word and promises and You fulfill it in our lives. Give us the grace to be always faithful to You and to never drift away from You in Jesus name we ask and pray.
