What started as a great festive ended in tragedy, fear and horror with the death of Uzzah. Perhaps it shook David and the entire rejoicing team. They feared to bring the ark to the City of David. So they took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. And to everyone’s surprise an amazing thing happened.

📖 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had (1 Chr 13:14).

Obed-Edom was a Levite of the family of the Korhites. He served as a gate keeper in the Lord’s house. The Ark of the Lord was in his custody for three months. It must have been a scary experience for the household of Obed-Edom. But they cared for the Ark reverentially and in all required manner.

The Ark contained the two stone tablets on which God had engraved His Commandments. The entire family of Obed-Edom lived piously and cautiously as the Ark was in their house.

God blessed Obed-Edom and his entire household for having His Ark with them reverentially. The Ark contained the word of God. Wherever the Word of God is given honour and whoever lives according to His word are blessed.

The Bible says that Obed-Edom was blessed with eight sons as the Lord blessed him (1 Chr 26:4-8). Altogether the progeny of Obed-Edom were 62. The Lord blessed the entire household and they flourished and multiplied.

Dear Ones in Christ, try opening your house for the Word of God to be taught. God blesses that family and its children. Let His Word dwell richly in us, in our families and may our house be open to teach His Word on a regular basis.

God bless us to be channels of blessings.
