The Succession Planning

(1 Chronicles Chapter 24-28)

When David was old and full of years, he made Solomon king of Israel (1Chron 23:1). Succession Planning cannot take place when a regime is overthrown either by assassination or by coup.
What would David do.

So to ensure a smooth transition of power, David meticulously prepares for Solomon’s Succession. He covers mainly on three aspects :
1) Appointment of leaders for specific jobs.
2) Sharing his plan to build the house of God.
3) Sharing his godly advice to Solomon

📝 In today’s reading passages David designates appointees (Division of Priests; Singers; Gatekeepers; Treasurers; Army Division and King’s Overseers) to govern particular jurisdictions within the kingdom.
Power is divided among the areas themselves and within the power structure of each sector.

Each federal head is a manager in trust who is responsible first to God, then to the king and finally to the people at large.

📝 David shared his plan to build the house of God to Solomon but God told him that, “You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood” (1Chron 17:1-6; 1Kings 5:3).

God further told David that, “Solomon your son is the one who will build my house and my courts ” (1Chron 22:9-10; 2Sam 7: 12-13)

📝 David finally charged Solomon in the midst of all Israel (1Chron 28:8-21):
🔖 Be careful to follow all the commands of the Lord (v 8)
🔖 Acknowledge the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob (v 9a)
🔖 Serve the Lord with all your heart and mind (v 9b)
🔖 If you reject the Lord He will reject you forever (v 9c)
🔖 Be strong and do the work (v 10)
🔖 Priests snd Levites would help him (v 21)

📌 David gave the blueprint/ plan to Solomon (v 11-18)
📌 David gave all his resources for the construction purpose (v 1Chron 29:2-5)

✅ What a great plan, program and provision that David gave it all to Solomon ❓
🕌 The Temple Project is not David’s alone nor is it Solomon’s but now it belongs to the whole assembly 🙌 (A good lesson for us to follow)

💞 Beloved Church, we all have to pass through this level of Succession Planning.
If we don’t use the Bible as our standard, we will, by default, teach our children the ways of the world # no Christ-centered marriage or family; money is the key to happiness; encouraged to pursue jobs only for the money they will earn and above all a life engrossed with all ism (nepotism, egoism, materialism, legalism, tribalism etc)

🙏 O God, I want my legacy to be one of faithfulness to YOUR CALL. As I plan for the future, help me pass along my VALUES to the next generation 🛐

Glory to God 🙌
