“The Lord said to Elijah, “Go back the way you came… “📕 1Kings 19:15

📝 Elijah (My God is Yahweh), a man from Tishbe in Gilead and without any records of his calling, has proved himself to be one of the most distinctive figures of OT: a Prophet, Preacher, Political Reformer and a Miracle Worker, and the most fascinating title is a man of God (1Kings 17:24)

📝 Elijah’s accounts begins with his strong word of commitment and Personal Witness: “… the God of Israel.. WHOM I SERVE..”(1Kings 17:1). This is a dangerous assertion in a time when Baalism enjoys royal support .

📝 Elijah did remarkable things ; won the contest with the 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah, and thereby he killed all the prophets of Baal (1Kings 18 : 19 -41) . But things went wrong when he received his Death Warrant from Queen Jezebel (1Kings 19:1-3) . He ran for his life … and after walking 40 Days and 40 Nights he reached Horeb ( Mount Sinai) and was hiding in a cave (1Kings 19: 8-9).

💫 The Lord question him twice – “What are you doing here, Elijah”? (19:9b,13b)
💫 The Lord commands him : “Go back the way you came… and anoint Hazael,Jehu and Elisha “. (1Kings 19: 15-16)

📌 There is an urgency in God’s mission: Horeb was not supposed to be a place for Elijah to dwell. He had to go back to the place from where he came (Back to the Basics) . He must return to his duties in Israel.

📌 Elijah stands as a hero because he didn’t give up in the struggle.
In the moments of his greatest doubt, Elijah listened for the wishper of God’s Voice drawing him out of his cave of despair.

💕 Beloved Church, let us ponder upon what the Lord had said to Elijah, and to draw our attention :
🔖 WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?
📌 In our comfort zone while the Lord’s Harvest Field needs more labourers. Are we ready for the harvest? 📕 Mat 9:37; Jn 4:35b

📌 In our cold and lukewarm stage while by this time we ought to be matured, active and exemplary. Do we still needs MILK? 📕 Heb 5:11-14

🔖 GO BACK THE WAY YOU CAME or in other words “Go back to the DAY ONE of your spiritual journey “:
📌 Remember the moment/time when you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour.
📌 Remember Your first love for the Lord (Rev 2:4)
📌 Remember your commitment to witness .

🙏 Let us revive and press on…

🙏 Let us not hide ourselves in the CAVE of fear, confusion, discouragement, self righteousness and worldly materialism .

May the wishper of God’s Voice draws us out of our cave of despair 🛐
