The great building project

๐Ÿ”– When there was peace and the whole nation was at rest, David called Nathan the prophet, and said, “Here I am , living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent. ( 2 Sam 7:1 )

NAME OF THE PROJECT : HOUSE OF GOD โ›ช
David’s desire to build the house of God was a noble idea. Centuries later the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai :
“Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this HOUSE remains a ruin”โ“
But the people responded, “The time has not yet come for the Lord’s house to be built” ( 1:2-4 )

๐Ÿ“Œ Lets ponder upon this issue. Is it applicable today ? NO TIME FOR THE LORD/ HIS MINISTRY. But David was different. He really wanted to build the house of God, and later on he made the preparations and provisions for this building project even though he was not allowed to build the temple ( 1Chron 22 )

DAVID’S PROPOSAL WAS REJECTED :

โœ… David was disqualified to build a house for God to dwell ( 2Sam 7:5-7 )
โœ… David had shed much blood ( 1Chron 22: 7-8 )
โœ… God never dwell in the house built by man ( 2Sam 7: 6-7 )

๐Ÿ’ซ The Lord says, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me ? Where will my resting place be” ? Isaiah 66:1

โœ… But the God of the Bible was kind to the Israelites , for his presence dwells in the tent .

๐Ÿ’ซ God himself will establish a house for David and the generations to come ( 2Sam 7:11b -13, 16 )

๐Ÿ’ซ David’s offspring will build a house for Him..( v 13 )

DAVID HANDED OVER THIS PROJECT TO HIS SON ( 1Chron 22 )

โœ… He called Solomon and charged him to build the house for the Lord ( v 6 )
โœ… David passed on God’s direction for him to Solomon ( v 8-10 )
โœ… David pronounced his blessing and God’s promises to Solomon ( v 9-13 )
โœ… David made all the preparations / arrangement by appointing various section of people for various works and provided iron, bronze, cedar timbers etc.

SOLOMON TOOK OVER THE PROJECT

โœ… He placed the order/demand for cedar to Hiram, the king of Tyre ( Chapter 5 )
โœ… He engaged labourers, craftsmen ( 5: 13-18 )
โœ… He hired Huram who was expert in all kinds of bronze work ( 7:13-45 )

๐Ÿ“ YEAR OF EXECUTION :
๐Ÿ”– Started in the 2nd month ( Zib ) of the 4th year of Solomon’s reign ie 480 years after the exodus ( 6:1 )
๐Ÿ”– Specification of the temple : 60 cubits long, 20 cubits wide and 30 cubits height ( v 2 )
๐Ÿ”– Inner Sanctuary : The ark of the covenant of the Lord was to be placed in it ( v 19 )

๐Ÿ“ YEAR OF COMPLETION
๐Ÿ”– Completed in the 8th month ( Bul ) of the 11th year of Solomon’s reign ( 6: 38a )
๐Ÿ”– Solomon took 7 years to complete the building ( 6:38b )
๐Ÿ”– After the completion of the temple Solomon brought “gold and silver and the furnishings” which was dedicated by David, and placed them in the treasuries of the Lord’s temple ( 7:51 )
๐Ÿ”– Solomon took 13 years to complete the construction of his palace ( 7:1-2 )

๐Ÿ’ž Beloved Church, let us ponder upon the year of completion of the temple and the year of completion of Solomon’s palace.
๐Ÿ“ Solomon took 7 years to complete the temple but he took 13 years to complete the construction of his palace.

๐Ÿ“Œ Solomon’s first priority was the Temple of God and then his palace followed by other projects.

๐Ÿ’ซ The Bible says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all things will be added unto you “
WHAT IS OUR PRIORITY โ“
TO WHOM ARE WE SEEKING FIRST โ“

๐Ÿ’ซ In the New Covenant, we are the temple of God where His Spirit dwells.
Revisit your temple and check it whether it is WELL FURNISHED or not.

Glory to God ๐Ÿ™Œ
