( A Love Note from David  ) 

Dear Abigail,

I have known few people who demonstrate true discernment and wisdom. Very few who do so with gentleness and grace.
Abigail, you are such a person. Your true beauty flows to others from your passion for godliness. In the midst of injustice and insult you were able to shine forth forgiveness and humility.
Abigail, you knew that I sought vengeance because Nabal, your husband, had offended my pride. When you came, you spoke to me with grace and and gentleness that revealed your generosity of spirit. I am impressed. You were seeking the goodness both for me and your husband, risking your own life.
God vindicated my cause with Nabal. I only needed to remain silent. I know your life will be in misery after the death of your husband.
So here am I sending my servants to tell you that I want to marry you .

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL WITH ABIGAIL ❓
💫 She was a prudent woman
With this character she helped to save people : lives of her husband and the men who belonged to him. Her confidence was in God, and not in humans

💫 She was a peacemaker
When the men approached her about Nabal’s misbehaviour and insult to David, she lost no time to respond. Her initiative to give David the best of her homemade food stopped the bloodshed from happening between the men of David and Nabal.

💫 She was a God-fearing woman
Her upbringing was strong in faith and this is evident from her interactions with David and his men. When she encountered David, she reminded him of God’s unending promise for him and how the Lord upheld him as the Prince over Israel ( 25:30 ). She continued that “his conscience should be clear of any bloodshed as the Lord will fight his battles” ( 25:31 )

💫 She acted as an Advisor to David
🔖 She counters David that her actions are God’s intervention to restrain him ( 25:26 ). Thus, she prevents David from sinning, reminding him that only God has the right to avenge evil ( Deut 32:35 )
🔖 She prophesies that the Lord will establish a lasting dynasty for David and vanquish his enemies ( 25:28 )

💫 She was an Intelligent and Beautiful Woman
🔖 She did not send her gifts off to David through her servants but she herself went to meet David.
🔖 She returns home to find Nabal drunk and feasting. She keeps the news about her meeting David untill the next morning when he will be sober.
🔖 She was able to save her husband and his household, prevented David from doing evil and secured an unexpected future for herself.
🔖 She humbly accepts David’s proposal ( 25:41-42 ) and thus, she becomes David’s wife.

💞 Beloved Church, women can play important roles ; not only within the walls of their homes but also can influence decision making at higher levels, all with wisdom and insight that is given from above.
📌 When conflicts happen, a godly woman should be able to REPAIR and RENEW bonds by reminding us of our eternal relationship with God and not justifying the wrongdoings and increasing enmity.
📌 We need Abigails to remind Davids that our commitment to God are important than the feud with Nabals.

🙏 LET’S ALL STRIVE TO BE AN ABIGAIL.
LET US REMEMBER HOW EACH DECISION CAN TURN OUR LIVES AROUND FOR GOOD OR BAD 🛐
