Saul was chosen by God – first king of Israel

1 Samuel 31:5 “And when his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword, and died with him.”

Saul was chosen by God himself to be the first king of Israel.
Saul defeated many of the enemies of his country, including the Ammonites, Philistines, Moabites, and Amalekites.
He united the scattered tribes, giving them greater strength.

He reigned for 42 years.

1 Samuel 31 paints a sad picture of Saul’s last day.

King Saul was courageous in battle.
He was a generous king.
Early in his reign he was admired and respected by the people.

Saul had money, muscles, and charisma— but he didn’t have integrity, humility, and a servant’s heart.

More than once, King Saul disobeye..d God’s instructions, thinking he knew better.
His jealousy of David blinded him and drove him to madness and a thirst for revenge.
At first glance, jealousy may not seem like a major sin in our daily lives.
We may get a little jealous of people from time to time.
Saul’s jealousy stemmed from fear and insecurity.

We all experience jealousy.
But it is extremely dangerous to let jealousy grow faster in our lives.
When we allow jealousy to take root, God can’t effectively use us, in His ministry.

If we are overwhelmed with jealousy to the point of feeling other negative emotions,
Then, we should calm down and ask ourselves……………..

Do I control my thinking, or does it control me?

Don’t let jealousy be the reason for divisions.
Each of us as individuals are so special to the Lord and we all have a purpose in life, and a part to play.
Turn our jealousy over to the Lord, so that He might set us free
