Let’s pray for the Rulers of our nation

2 Chronicles 36: 22, Ezra 1:1
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

Normally in Bible we come across some repeated verses, but they are not immediate, some times the old testament verses repeated in the new testament, we also come across the repeated verses in the Gospels, majority of the verses in 1 & 2 kings are repeated in 1 & 2 Chronicles, but surprisingly in today’s portion our key verse is repeated immediately with only one verse in the middle. I think this kind of immediate repetition is no where in the Bible (I’m not sure).

After Josiah, in the last regime of Israel all his successors have gone astray from the ways of the Lord, they did evil in the sight of God. They rebelled against God, they stiffened their necks and hardened their hearts. Nevertheless the Lord had compassion on them and sent messangers to them, but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and misused His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.

But our gracious God, to fulfill His promise, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing.

God used a donkey to make Balam to understand. Here God stirred up a gentile to rescue His people.

At times when the anti Christian governments like BJP are ruling we often think that God has raised up rulers against the church. Nothing will happen without the knowledge of God. When we the children of God pray for our leaders, God can turn all their cunning devices against Christians to foolishness.

When David heard that Ahithophel was among the conspirators, he said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
We the Christians are responsible for the welfare of our nation. The progress or the prosperity of the nation doesn’t depend upon the governance of the government, it depends upon the prayers of the believers.

St. Paul to Timothy says, I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; (1Tim 2: 3)
May God give us a spirit of prayer to pray for our nation.

Stay Blessed 😊
