Having a vision enables us to see the invisible that which does not yet exists *A vision creates a path in our mind to a future of our own design* When you cannot serve a man whom you can see * You cannot serve a God whom you don’t see.

And so it was, when they had crossed over that Elijah said to Elisha, ” Ask what may I do for you, before I am taken away from you “.Elisha said ” Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me “.

2 Kings 2:8.
We serve a God who fulfills the desires of our hearts. The above scripture portion tells us that Elisha’s desire was to have a double portion of the spirit that which was upon his mentor Elijah and it came to pass. What you ask, speak and see with faith, you will receive, posess and enjoy.

The reason why many of us don’t receive is, because we don’t ask God for it and even if we ask, we ask amiss, we ask for sometime and when it doesn’t come according to our time table, we keep it aside and forget about it. In continuity and persistence lies your blessings. Elijah had a school of prophets, but his mantle fell upon Elisha who poured water over his hands for nineteen years. Theology, doctrines and Bible colleges don’t guarantee the outpouring of the Spirit, they only increase our knowledge. In the new covenant no disciple of Jesus went to a Bible college, they were uneducated fishermen, It was the Holy Spirit which came on them on the day of Pentecost and they turned the world upside down for Jesus. It is the Holy Spirit which gives us revelatory knowledge, the power and the strength and helps us in our walk with Jesus.

Many in the body of Christ don’t rever the Holy Spirit and the works of the Holy Spirit, without the Holy Spirit we will not know Jesus, because it is the Holy Spirit which convicts us of our sins and reveals Jesus our Savior to us. It gives us wisdom, knowledge, understanding, revelation, power and strength to continue in our walk with Jesus after we are born again and reach our final destination heaven.

The reason why Elisha asked for a double portion which was on Elijah is, because he had a deeper relationship with God, he knew that his mentor Elijah had performed mighty miracles with the help of the Holy Spirit and so he desired for a double portion. Elisha had performed exactly double the miracles that Elijah had performed. Gehazi Elisha’s successor didn’t understand the ways of the Spirit, so he ran behind money ( the filth of this world) had he been faithful and asked for a double portion of the Spirit which was on his mentor Elisha, even he would have got it and even he would performed mighty miracles like Elijah and Elisha, but he ran after the things of this world and became a leper sadly after Elisha there was no one to carry the mantle forward. The cravings and things of the world took away Gehazis destiny. Gehazi cooly and completely forgot that it was God who created the universe, everything on and under the earth belonged to Him, had Gehazi run behind the spirit of God instead of the things of this world, God would have given him tonnes of gold and precious things. ( Is it hard for the Creator of this universe to give you the address of the gold and diamond mines that He formed under the earth ? ) and the ministry of prophets would have continued after Elisha. Never run behind the gifts always run behind God the giver of gifts and the gifts will run after us.

Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.
who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

2 Corinthians 1:20,21.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Romans 8:14.
Heavenly Father thank You for the word, give us the grace to say No to the things of the flesh and the things of the world and to seek and go after the things of the Spirit, give us the grace not to grieve the Holy Spirit and help us to walk in Your ways with the help of the Holy Spirit in Jesus name we ask and pray.
