The widow comes to Elisha with a cry for help

2 Kings 4:1-7 “Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered, “Your servant has nothing in the house, except a jar of oil.”

The widow comes to Elisha with a cry for help.

Her heart is burdened.
Her husband was a servant of the Prophe, he was a man who feared the Lord, yet, he was not able to provide for his family.

What left behind is…………………. Only debt and the insecurities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now the poor widow is totally helpless and at the verge of a breakdown.

Life seems to have reached its end.
*But the divine intervention through Elisha helped her to move forward with hope.

There are 2 questions we ask here……………

  1. What is it that we want?
This question is regarding the clarity of the goal.

When we face a crisis, we may not know how to get out of it.

Aimless swimming will not help one to get out of the water, but one needs to swim to the shore.

Once the goal is well defined, it is easier to achieve.
Once we know the aim, then it is easy to settle down and to have a clarity of the aim.

  1. What resources do we have?
Here she finds a jar of oil,
It could easily have been overlooked.

We need to look into ourselves to find out, our God given resources.

Our God is a generous God and he has given us everything that we need to live a godly life.

He gave us ………………….
The Holy Spirit.
The Bible.
The Gospel
Access to God. and so on……………………….

So let’s pray to God to give us wisdom in the use of resources.
