Our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo

Acts 27:10

“Men, I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo, and to our own lives also.”

Paul was travelling to Rome as a prisoner. He advised the people not to travel as the season they were sailing was very dangerous.

There are warnings that surface in our lives – warnings that need to be taken seriously to avoid a potentially damaging situation.

Warning signals offer an opportunity to evaluate what needs to be done to turn ourselves around before it is too late.

We need to assess the source of weaknesses and what can be done to repair the damage.

Everyone has seasons when storm warnings occur.

Let’s take the warnings seriously and not allow the storm to hit and bring devastation in our lives.

Many a times we tend to listen to men rather than listening to God. The storms can be avoided in our lives when we listen to God rather than listening to men.

Acts 28:8

And it happened that the father of Publius was lying in bed afflicted with recurrent fever and dysentery, and Paul went in to see him and after he prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him.

⛴️ Paul was sent to Rome along with the other prisoners since he had appealed to Caesar to consider his case where the Jews falsely accused him of committing offense against the Laws and the temple of the Jewish people and wanted to do away with him. The ship 🚢 in which Paul and the other prisoners were traveling underwent many hardships before it reached to Rome. Due to violent winds, the ship was brought to the island of Malta.

🏝️ The natives of Malta showed them extraordinary kindness because of the rain that had set in and because of the cold, they kindled a 🔥 fire to keep them warm. (Acts 28:2) In that neighborhood, there was a leading 👨 man named Publius who owned many estates on that island. He welcomed Paul and the others and was hospitable to them for three days. Paul came to know that the father of Publius was unwell, so he went to see him. Paul first prayed over him and then laid his 👐 hands on him and healed him.

🕊️ Paul was a man filled with the Spirit of God. When he came to know that the father of Publius who showed hospitality to them was lying in bed sick, out of concern for him, he went to visit him and prayed over him and healed him. Paul did not hesitate to use his gift of healing here.

💝 Let us not hesitate to use the gifts, God has bestowed upon us (gifts of the Holy Spirit) for His Glory and to lead others to God like Paul who did not hesitate to use them even though he was under trial – taken to Rome against false charges of offending the Jewish Laws and the temple and also the natives who misunderstood him in the beginning and spoke against him, (Acts 28:4) did not hinder Paul from doing good to them (healed their sick).

❤️ Let us imitate the good example of Paul in our lives so that the world may know that we belong to Jesus Christ. Amen.
