The Famine in the Lockdown should cause a Famish for the Word

🍞 Famine Forewarned 🍞

Have we ever heard or seen such a pestilence like covid before? Earlier one country or few countries had been affected by a plague. But this covid had knocked out the entire world. Simultaneous lockdown has been issued throughout the world. In short the entire world had nearly come to a standstill.

Unless and until we had experienced this terrible plague never would we have realized its severity. The Bible warns of a coming famine that is going to affect all and one.

📖 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord , “when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord (Amos 8:11).

It is a new kind of famine. It is different famine. It is an unique famine. It is going to be a difficult famine. It is definitely going to come. And it is going to be severe.

This famine is going to be sent by the Sovereign Lord. And He has foretold it. So it is certain to come. We don’t know when it is going to come. We don’t know its effects and consequences. But God has sent the warning.

Few days earlier when the lockdown warning was issued we stored all the essential provisions and essential items. Likewise we need to stock the Word of God in our heart.

Unless and until we experience the famine for the Word of the Lord we don’t know how it is going to be. But be prepared for it.

The best way to prepare is to read the Word systematically and consistently now. Read the Word, meditate the Word, memorize the Word and share the Word.

In a few days we are going to start reading the New Testament. Those who have been irregular in reading and studying the Word gear up to put in serious effects to read systematically.

This is the best time to invite others to read the New Testament. Share the self-joining link. May many join to read the Word. Dear ones in Christ, be prepared for the coming famine.

God bless us to be channels of blessings.

Day 198, 270 Days Bible Reading, Thursday, 28.1.21.

The Famine of the Word in the Lockdown should cause a Famish for the Word to get us into the Word… Amos 8:11.

🥀 Famine for the Word is not that there will be a shortage in the Bibles or preachers. It is not as if God has stopped speaking. It was because the people have stopped their ears from listening! The Bible is the most-read book of all times, most-sold book, and has been the bestseller for years, and yet there is a great famine for the Word. It is collecting dust in some homes, being used as a showpiece on the mantle and displayed in some bookcases.

🥀 Amos, a shepherd and a fig picker, had to deliver God’s Word to Israel, specifically the Northern Kingdom. The privilege of being the chosen people comes with a responsibility. Israel, steeped in sin, has stopped their ears from the prophet. So Amos thunders his message to the spiritually dead and deaf ears.

🥀 Famine of the Word happens when things and idols have substituted for God’s Word, and there is no thirst or thrill for the voice of God. The signs and symptoms of a famine-hit person is when they will be restless, looking for something to satisfy their emptiness and need; always searching and not knowing what they are searching for. They will be sinning without any consciousness. They will be always looking for something new. They look for something exciting, and they search the Bible, not to find Christ, but some new wave that looks good enough to justify their materialistic lifestyle.

🥀 In this Lockdown, with churches shut down, many are not into the Word, though there are online churches and Bible studies available. How will anyone get affected by the famine? Amos wrote that the whole society, especially the lovely young women and the strong young men, Amos 8:13, had so much potential in them. But because they were fed with chaff, they don’t grow, and are fainting with thirst, and are famishing for the meat of the Word.

🥀 Child of God, Remember this, if there is a famine for the Word in this lockdown, there is a solution. That is, to stop running around to seek new experiences and get to a place where you feed on the wheat of the Word, and not more chaff. Seek the Lord until you hear His voice. Quit worshipping the self and other things that have become idols. Repent and turn to God the moment you become famished in the famine… Amen. 🙏
