Live in the Spirit…!!!

It is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh” ( Dan 2:11 ).

Although these Chaldeans were not aware of the true God, they knew that there were ‘gods’ or, saints who do not dwell in the flesh. They also knew that rare things or hidden truths can be revealed only to such saints. Later on, it was proved that Daniel was such a man.

The Lord wants saints “whose dwelling is not with flesh” – to reveal to them the deep truths and hidden mysteries in His Word. St.Paul says, “Ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you” (Rom 8:9). Daniel had an excellent spirit (Dan 6:3). The Lord has filled us with His Holy Spirit so that we may live in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

Dear child of God, if you live in the Spirit, the Lord will reveal to you deep things that are hidden to the wise people of this world.

The king’s word was, “If ye will not make known unto me the dream with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces.” If we do not live in the Spirit and have deep spiritual insight and revelation, we are sure to fall prey to the devil and his vices. “To be carnally minded is death: but to be spiritually minded is life and peace” (Rom 8:6).

Daniel: 1:17 “To these four young men God gave knowledge and skill in every aspect.” Daniel is the self-proclaimed author of this book.

Daniel means “God is my judge.”
Dan= judge
· ie= my
· el= God

Daniel is the ………
. Man of principle
. Man of understanding
. Man of prayer
· Man of faith
· Man of excellent spirit
· Man of humility

The Book of Daniel brings out the sincere faith of four youngsters and their very difficult life experiences.

They were taken captive to Babylon and served under their government.

As Christians, we will face pressure to compromise our faith.
Daniel and his three friends faced this compromise in their early life.

Daniel 1:8 shows that Daniel was determined that he would not defile himself with the king’s food or with the wine he drunk. So he asked permission from the chief officials not to defile himself.

Daniel and his friends made their decision to be faithful to the laws of God before they were faced with the king’s delicacies, so they did not hesitate to stick with their convictions.

It is easier to resist temptation if we have thought through our convictions well before the temptation arrives.

King Nebuchadnezzar wanted to make the young Jewish men, Daniel and his friends, like the Babylonians.

He gave them Babylonian names that assimilated with their culture, a Babylonian education, and even tried to change their God’s standards in a culture that did not honor God.

We should never compromise God’s laws at the society where we live, in our place of work, in our friends circle etc, We have to be different for our Lord Jesus Christ.

So it’s very important that we Christians mindfully live our lives to our Christian standards of living.

When we develop a relationship with God and live according to His standards, we will become stronger and more successful.

When we hate what He hates and love what He loves, we will see His supernatural power at work in our life!

Daniel’s first test Dan 1

Daniel made up his mind to keep himself undefiled. Daniel resolved not to eat the royal food either because the meat was some food forbidden by Jewish law or because accepting the kings food and drink was the first step toward depending on his gifts and favours.

Daniel first. Test was food. The first test that came to Adam and Eve was also in relation to food. And the first test that came to Jesus in the wilderness was in relation to food too. Esau lost his birthright because of food.Isaac lost his spiritual vision because of his love for tasty food that Esau would bring him.

But Daniel had studied the scriptures as a young man and he knew the law of Moses forbade the eating of certain meats. He decided to obey God whatever it may cost him.without comprising, Daniel found a way to live by God’s standards in a culture that didnot honor God.

As God’s people we may adjust to our culture as long as we donot compromise God’s laws.
