Daniel 4:30-33, 5:17,5:22-24

Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty King claims that the wealth and beauty of his kingdom are for his glory and majesty because of his pride, he suffered.King tries to bribe Daniel but Daniel doesnot want gifts He knows the true king_ the God of heaven.

Daniel speaks with humility when he speaks to the proud king. He knew that Babylon will fall because of king’s pride and idol worship. His loyalty to God was sincere that he refused the gifts.Belshazzar has taken holy vessels from Jerusalem temple and used them as everyday wine glass.

God’s judgement is swift That vert night the king died and his kingdom goes to Darius the Mede

Let us Reflect on how much more we should be acknowledging God before the world in this Pandemic Lockdown, if a person like Nebuchadnezzar could acknowledge God? …Daniel 4:28-37.

🌿 Daniel Chapter 4 is about the Babylonian King’s feedback on what happened to him between the interpretation of his dream and the end of its fulfilment. Nebuchadnezzar wrote a letter to his citizens about what happened to him during the time when the dream that he saw was being fulfilled. He lost his sanity and became like an animal. But, the moment his sanity was restored, he wrote to his people, to tell them about the awesome God, giving Him all glory, power and honour, Daniel 4:28-37.

🌿 God spoke His words of judgment at a moment when Nebuchadnezzar was puffed up with himself and his own importance, being so full of himself and his achievement. He has been so far away from God, but now he is acknowledging God to be the true God. If a heathen king acknowledges God after his restoration, how much more should we be acknowledging God everyday, for keeping us safe in this pandemic lockdown and for many other blessings we receive? We should not take God for granted. Nebuchadnezzar pours out a most wonderful hymn of praise; so wonderful, in fact, that I always wonder how a king like him praises God?

🌿 Child of God, Remember this, in many ways it was a personal testimony of Nebuchadnezzar, of obtaining God’s great mercy and power to get his mind restored. Nebuchadnezzar has, at last, learnt his lesson. He now personally bows before God, to praise and exalt God, to acknowledge God as his God.

🌿 Could we in this lockdown praise God, honour God, glorify God and exalt God more than ever so that the world will know our awesome God? Sometimes we find that we are required to do certain things in life as the children of the most High God that are challenging, so that we can have a testimony out of our testings… Amen. 🙏

Daniel 5:17 “Then Daniel answered, and said before the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.”

Daniel chapter 5, presents the account of what happened the night that Babylon fell to the Medes and the Persians in 539 B.C.

Daniel 5:1 says that Belshazzar was throwing a huge banquet for a thousand of his nobles.

King Belshazzar, was younger and arrogant, having served as co-regent with his father for the past 14 years or so.

King Belshazzar gave a great feast for 1,000 of his nobles, and he drank wine with them.

In verse 5, we see that during the time when Belshazzar and his guests were drinking while praising the gods of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood and stone, the fingers of a human hand appeared to the king and his guests.

Daniel 5:8 tells the reader that Belshazzar’s wise men were totally unable to read or interpret the writings on the wall.

So Daniel was brought in before the king.

Belshazzar was prepared to give power, money, and authority to the person who could explain the message he’d seen on the wall, but Daniel wasn’t interested (Daniel 5:17).

Daniel knew the influence that comes from fame quickly fades.
Daniel was not motivated by material rewards.
His entire life had been characterized by doing right.

Daniel’s focus was on being faithful to the Lord, not what he could gain by following Him.

Daniel only spoke the words God gave him — nothing more, nothing less.

Are we ambitious for riches?
*If so, confess this to God today and ask Him to help us remain humble regarding everything that we have.

Doing right should be our first priority, not gaining power or rewards.
