The Book of Daniel: 6-8 🦁

Chapter 6
Daniel Tormented – Daniel who was an administrator distinguished himself by his exceptional qualities and the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. So the others planned to find charges against him. They could not frame any charges. So they made the king sign a letter that for the next thirty days all should worship the king as God.

Those who disobey would be thrown into the lion’s den. Daniel did not fear the decree. He opened the windows of his room, knelt down and prayed three times to his Holy God. So all the enemies of Daniel complained to the king that Daniel should be thrown into the lion’s den.

It was done and the king in sorrow told Daniel, May your God whom you serve continually rescue you. That night the king had no sleep. Very early next morning he went to the den and called out to Daniel. Daniel said that God had sent his angel and shut the mouths of the lions because he was innocent. The king was overjoyed.

Daniel was pulled out and all the men who had complained about Daniel were thrown into the den with their families and all were crushed to death by the lions. YOU WILL REAP WHATSOEVER YOU SOW.

Chapter 7
Daniel’s Dream – Four beasts came out of the sea. The first was like a lion with eagle wings. The wings were torn off and he was given the heart of a man. The second was like a bear, the third looked like a leopard. The fourth beast had large iron teeth and ten horns.

Then a small horn arose and it spoke boastfully. Then he saw the Holy God and His throne with an everlasting kingdom. The four beasts are four kingdoms. The little horn (Antichrist) waged war against the saints and defeated them until God arose in judgement in favour of the saints and they possessed the kingdom.

The fourth king for a time would have power to trample and crush the kingdoms. But the power of the Holy God would completely remove all powers and His kingdom would be an everlasting kingdom.

Chapter 8
Vision of the Ram and Goat – Daniel had a vision in the Province of Elam. He saw a ram with two long horns. The ram (Medo Persian Empire) did as it pleased and became great.

Suddenly a goat (Greece) with a prominent horn between his eyes came from the west crossing the whole earth without touching the ground. The ram was crushed by Greece. The goat became great, but its large horns broke and at an early age Alexander the great died. In his place four prominent horns grew.

Out of them came another horn of great power. Antiochus 1V made determined effort to destroy the Jewish faith and extend his power over Israel. He defeated the godly believers who died for their faith.

Daily sacrifices were ended. Next the army of Judas Maccabeus captured Jerusalem. The temple was rededicated and sacrifices were started. This was a vision Daniel had which concerns the time of the end.

Simple thoughts for
deeper meditation

Daniel 6:10

Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been
published, he went home to
his upstairs room where the
windows opened toward
Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he
had done before”.

⚡ Daniel was a busy man.
He held a high government
position in the ancient
kingdom of Babylon. But he
had developed the habit of
spending time with God-
praying three times a day,
praising God, and thanking
Him. This routine helped him develop a strong faith
that did not waver when he
faced persecution.

⚡ Daniel is a good example of someone who prioritized
a disciplined walk with God.
As a young person, Daniel
?started making careful and
wise decisions (Dan: 1: 8)

⚡ He was committed to
praying regularly” giving
thanks to God”. His frequent
seeking of God resulted in a
life in which his faith was
easily recognized by those
around him. In fact, King
Darius described Daniel as
a ” servant of the living God”
(V:20) and twice described
him as a person who served God” continually” (V: 16, 20)

⚡God desires a relationship with us. In the morning
we invite Him into our day,
and then we can praise Him
and ask him for His help
throughout the day. As we
spend time with God in prayer and in His Word, we
grow in our relationship with
Him and experience His
presence and protection
throughout the day. Then
no pestilence or pandemic
will come near us.
“Turn to the Lord and
pray to him, now
that he is near”
(Isaiah: 55:6)

“Those who hope in the
Lord will renew their
strength.” (Isaiah: 40:31)
