Doing the work the Lord commanded to be done

The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the Lord commanded to be done.” Exodus.36:5.

God asked His people to construct a Tabernacle. Gave specific instructions about its size and the materials to be used.Exodus.26. Moses told the Israelites who were in the wilderness “From what you have, take an offering for the Lord.” Exodus.35:5. Freewill offering and no compulsion.

Everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the Lord for the work on the Tent of Meeting. Exodus.35:21. Please read 35:4-29.

Moses entrusted the responsibility to the right people and gave them the needed materials. Exodus.36:2,3.

Construction work started but they faced a big problem. The people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning. Exod.36:3b.

The giving of the people disturbed those who were involved in the work. They might have personally urged people not to bring more. Finally, they had to stop the work, as a team went to Moses and gave a complaint. The complaint is “people are bringing more than enough…”.Exodus.36:5.At this point, Moses was forced to give an order asking people not to give anything more. Exodus. 36:6. “..what they already had was more than enough to do all the work.” Exodus. 36:7.

This voluntary giving of God’s people for God’s work is challenging.

WHAT IS THE SITUATION TODAY?
People all over the world need to hear and experience God’s love. Do we have enough people and the needed resources? Many places, nothing is happening due to lack of people and resources. Those who are involved in the construction/ building of God’s work are going through scarcity of resources. In some cases, even their basic needs are not met. Who is responsible for the present situation?

Do you know any place/ person / project who need more resources? What can we do about it?

Are we personally involved in God’s work? How is our GIVING?

Can we start giving voluntarily and give regularly so that God’s work in some area can progress?
