God Promises & Encourages Moses

God’s promises of rescue
Gen 6:5 God says I have heard the groaning I have remembered my covenant

The lord’s pity and His covenant promise indicates
He knows our needs.

Promises follow 6:6-8 I am the lord I will free you from oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt.I will redeem you with a powerful hand and great acts of judgement

Two promises in 6:7 relate to His relationship with them . *I will claim you as my people and I will be your God They are complaining, doubting, people but He identifies Himself with them and calls them His own.

Two more promises follow in 6:8 which refer to the future I will bring you into the land I swore to give to Abraham ,Isaac and Jacob and again God says I am the lord
Why should the Israelites be fearful after such assurances from God?This is our God who has brought us from the bondage of sin ,and He will bring us into a place prepared for His people.

Exodus 6-9 28.7.2020

God encouraged Moses and said that surely he will deliver the Children of Israel and bring them out of Egypt and take them to the Promised Land. With mighty acts of judgement He would lay His hand on Egypt and the Egyptians will know that it’s the Lord that brought Israelites out of Egypt.

The LORD Strikes with Plagues

♦️ Water into blood ♦️
With his staff he had to strike the waters of the Nile and all the waters in Egypt turned into blood. Egyptian magicians were able to perform this miracle. Pharoah just went into his palace.

🐸 Plague of Frogs 🐸
Moses said that frogs will fill every house and also go up on all the people. Aaron stretched out his rod over the streams, canals and ponds and numerous frogs filled the city. The magicians were able to do this miracle.

🕷️ Plague of Lice 🕷️
Aaron had to strike the dust of the earth and the place was filled with lice. The magicians were not able to do this miracle. So they said it was the finger of God.

🐝 Plague of Flies 🐝
Swarms of flies were sent by God into Egypt. But God made a distinction between Israelites and Egyptians. Pharoah said that Israelites can offer sacrifices within the land. But that was not possible. Pharoah said, I will let you go, NOW PRAY FOR ME. Moses prayed and all the flies left. But still Pharoah hardened his heart.

🐐 Plague on Live Stock 🐐
God sent a terrible plague on all live stock. All the animals in Egypt died but not one animal belonging to Israel died.

🧟‍♂️ Plague of Boils 🧟‍♂️
Moses had to take handfuls of soot from a furnace and toss it into the air. Then terrible boils appeared on people and animals. Still Pharoah hardened his heart.

🌧️ Plague of Hail 🌧️
Moses stretched his hand towards the sky and hail fell over Egypt accompanied by thunder and lightning, the worst storm ever seen. Both men and animals were struck. The Israelites were safe.

Pharoah’s Hard Heart
It was God who hardened his heart. God said to Pharoah, I have raised you up for this very purpose that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.

False Confessions
Pharoah only made false confessions. He said, This time I have sinned, the Lord is in the right and I and my people are in the wrong. Pray to the Lord. I will let you go. You don’t have to stay any longer. Pharoah never kept to his word.
