Questions, doubts and excuses of Moses.

I have seen the misery of my people in Egypt, I have heard them crying out because of their slave traders, and I am concerned about their suffering so I have come down to rescue them…to a land flowing with milk and honey. Exodus.3:7,8.

Moses lived a royal life in the palace of Pharaoh of Egypt for 40 years. Because of faith, he left everything…and the next 40 years he served as a shepherd taking care of his father in laws sheep in the desert.

One day, the God of his fathers called Moses to perform a big task, of delivering the Isrealites from their bondage under Pharaoh and to lead them to Canaan.

We can see his fears, worries, questions and how God answered it.

1 “Who am I” that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt? Exodus.3:10. I am only a shepherd. I can’t even talk properly. I am so small infront of Pharaoh.

God’s answer.

“I will be with you.” Exodus.3:12. What else do you need?

  1. Exodus.3:13. They might ask me- “What is his name?” God, I don’t know, even your name. How can I speak for you?
    God’s answer.

I AM WHO I AM. The Lord, God of your fathers. Exodus.4:14,15. This knowledge is enough.

  1. “What if they do do not believe me or listen to me?” Exodus.4:1. God answered it with a question.

“What is that in your hand?” Exodus.4:2.

Moses answer.

“A staff.” Exodus. 4:2.God is saying, that is enough for me to use you. Don’t look at the size of the task or at the size of your enemy but trust in the power of your God.

Excuse of Moses.

“O Lord, I have never been eloquent…. I am slow of speech and tounge.” Exodus. 4:10.

God’s answer.

“I will help you speak and I will teach you what to do.” Exodus.4:12. What else do we need?

Request of Moses.

“O Lord, please send someone else to do it.” Exodus.4:13.He is saying, it is a big and difficult task for me. I am not capable to do it.

To this God told about his elder brother Aaron and added. “I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do.” Exodus.4:15b.

Moses had more questions, doubts and excuses but….

Today, to fulfill some task, when God is calling us, what is our response?

Today, what are our fears, questions, doubts and excuses?

When God called me in 1980, I had lots of fears, doubts and excuses but God gave an answer to all my questions and to all my excuses.. The journey was not easy but HE is with me throughout.

Some of us could be worrying about the problems, difficulties, lack of a abilities, gifts or talents, lack of resources.. ..

Spirit of Let someone else.

God is asking us, What is in your hand? A staff. What we have is enough for God to use us. Not our ability but our availability.

Friends, are we willing to give ourselves as we are, to be used by God? He who used Moses is able to use you and me.
