Jethro, the father in law of Moses, visited him in the desert. Jethro saw how Moses was handling all the disputes of Isrealites, as a judge from morning till evening, which was very taxing for Moses and for the people. Exodus.18:14.

Jethro told Moses that the “work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone” Exodus.18:18.Jethro suggested delegation of responsibilities to the right people. He gave some advice to Moses about. 1. What to teach the people.2. Who should be selected and appointed as leaders.

A.WHAT TO TEACH THE PEOPLE? Exodus. 18:20.

1. Teach them the decrees and laws.
2. Show them the way to live.
3. Teach them the duties, they are to perform.

If they are taught these matters properly, many disputes won’t even arise.

B.SELECTION OF LEADERS. Exodus.18:21.

1. Select capable men.
2. Select men who fear God.
3. Select men who are trustworthy.
4. Select men who hate dishonest gain.

What kind of teaching are we giving to people today?What kind of disputes among Christians today?

What are the qualities we are looking for leaders in our churches and in Christian organizations today? Do they posses the qualities in Exodus.18:21?

We will do everything the Lord has said

Exodus 19: 8 “Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do.”

Israel has arrived at the foot of Mt Sinai about two months after leaving Egypt via the Red Sea.

In Exodus 19, God told the Israelites that if they would obey Him completely,
He would treasure them above all nations.

Because the Israelites had seen what God had done in Egypt, they responded, “We will do everything the Lord has said”

The Israelites made an agreement with God at Mount Sinai.

For generations, Israel had turned their backs on God.

But… God didn’t give them what they deserved, even though they often struggled to keep it.

God always keeps His promises.

Despite the Israelites unfaithfulness, God continued to provide, protect, and love them unconditionally.

Like Israelites, Have you ever made promises that you later failed to keep?

We’ve all made promises that we’ve broken.

A promise only has real value if it holds hands with commitment, faithfulness and perseverance.

God knows our shortcomings.

That’s why, God established a new covenant with us through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus.

Even though we may wander far from God, He continues to love us above all things and patiently calls us back to Him.

Jesus is gracious and merciful, extending compassion and forgiveness that we do not deserve.

GOD ASKS only one THING from US, TO REMAIN FAITHFUL TO HIM IN EACH AND EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE.
