Can we be the person God is looking for to build the wall of righteousness

Can we be the person God is looking for to build the wall of righteousness through prayer for our nations in this lockdown? …Ezekiel 22:30.

🏰 In the last few days, many nations are experiencing all kinds of protest against anything that people are unhappy about — from wearing a mask to poor governance. Ungodly behaviour and hatred is rampant. In the midst of all these, how do we manifest the love of God? We are the light in the world’s darkness. Are our lights getting brighter or dimmer? Israel was in a disastrous state at that time and the sins they had committed against God was described in Ezekiel 22. In verse 30, God was looking for someone to stand in the gap, the place where the wall was breached to avoid the consequences of verse 31.

🏰 I believe in my heart that God is calling His people to stand up and be willing to stand in the breach, to repair the walls. A breach in the wall could mean the destruction of the entire city by the invading enemy army. God was using the ‘imagery of a wall with a breach’ to show that sin and disobedience to God was invading God’s people who were going to face destruction, if they didn’t turn to God in repentance. The breach represents sin as shown in Isaiah 30:13. “Therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a breach in a high wall, bulging out and about to collapse, whose breaking comes suddenly and in an instant.”

We can learn from Isaiah and Nehemiah about building the breach or gap in the wall. In Isaiah 58:12, we will be called as repairers of the wall. “…You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in,” after we seek and fast and pray, Isaiah 58:6-8.

🏰 There is a spiritual lesson we can learn from Nehemiah who didn’t repair the wall by himself. The wall was built in 52 days with help from all the Israelite families, Nehemiah 6:15. Each family had a responsibility for a different part of the wall. In this lockdown, as the body of Christ, each of us have a part to play. What is the breach in your nation, community or church? We must seek to find what part of the wall we are to repair to help bring our nations, communities and church back to God.

🏰 Child of God, Remember this, when Nehemiah stood in the gap and confessed the sins of the nation of Israel, God opened a door for him to return to build the wall that was broken. God, in His infinite mercy, has given us a way out. He is looking for men and women who are willing to stand in the gap, who are willing to stand in the breach and plead on behalf of their people, their land, their nation. In this lockdown with Covid-19 pandemic on one side, lawlessness on the other side, people turning away from God to please themselves, who is that person that God is looking for among us to build the wall of righteousness through prayer?

🏰 In this lockdown it can be any of us, as long as we humble ourselves to God, to His Word and be willing… Amen. 🙏
