The Danger of Spiritual Pride

-Ezekiel 27:27 “Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners, and your pilots, your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise and all your men of war who are in you, with all your crew that is in your midst, sink into the heart of the seas on the day of your fall.

Ezekiel chapter 27 continues this prophecy from Ezekiel. God’s speaking through Ezekiel, a prophecy against Tyre.

Tyre was a powerful merchant city.
They saw themselves as a city without limits, and full of beauty.

Tyre was pictured as a beautiful ship, made of the finest and most expensive woods from all around the world and with a sail made of fine embroidered linen from Egypt.

Here we see that God promised to break down their great city to the point that it would just be a bunch of rocks and a place to dry fishing nets.

Everyone who benefited from Tyre’s trade would be shocked and broken to hear of her downfall.

Tyre’s downfall was because of 2 reasons:……………………
PRIDE and
CORRUPTION.

Pride is the biggest battle we face.
And corruption is the by-product of pride.

Pride causes us so many problems. It is such a general problem that we usually don’t even realise how much we act out of pride.
We all can be in a dangerous trap.

The Danger of Spiritual Pride
We always try to boast in a false sense of humbleness.
Sometime we can acquire the mindset of, “I’m more important than you because I serve more than you.” … Pride. SPIRITUAL PRIDE

Even TRUE BELIEVERS also strike with the dangers of pride…. *self-promotion, in pursuit of reputation, influence, and “success,”………….

So let me conclude like this…..

Pride is not only the problem of those who are rich, powerful, successful, famous, or self-righteous. ….

It can take many shapes and forms and affects all of us to some degree.

It is an attitude of self-sufficiency, self-importance, and self-exaltation above the GLORY OF GOD

Do we spend enough time in the presence of God to see our sin, to see our pride, to be humbled and to get an accurate view of ourselves?

When we are humbled, then we are in a position to receive God’s grace, God’s love, and God’s strength.
