Who will stand in the Gap?

WHO WILL STAND IN THE GAPโ“
(Ezekiel Chapter 22)

The text, “I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall..” illustrates a broken wall which needs a repairing , and a perfect man is sought for the work. The walls of holiness that were supposed to sorround Israel had a gaping hole

๐Ÿ“Œ There is an urgency , and the Lord is seeking for :
โœ… A man who sees the danger and understands.
โœ… A man who is expert in building project.
โœ… A man who volunteers himself to work .
โœ… A man who is willing to represent his people.

A MAN WHO WILL INTERCEDE WITH GOD ๐Ÿ›
Isaiah writes,” When the Lord looked for men there was no one —
๐Ÿ”– To intervene 59:16 a
๐Ÿ”– To help 63:5a
๐Ÿ”– To support 63:5b

๐Ÿ“Œ There was none found to be fit for the work (v 25-29):
1๏ธโƒฃ Prophets- mixed up in the priorities (Is 13 :4-5 ; 22:28)
2๏ธโƒฃ Priests– mixed up in their teaching and morality (Is 22:26)
3๏ธโƒฃ Princes– mixed up in their handling of money (Is 22:27)
4๏ธโƒฃ People- mixed up in their relationship (Is 22:29)

To intercede with God on behalf of the people was a part of prophet’s task (Gen 20:7, Jer 37:3b; 42:2).
Apart from Jeremiah and Ezekiel, God sought a man capable of advocacy for the house of Israel when its sin had gone so far.

I find it to be interesting because the Lord was seeking for a man not men to stand before Him (Eze 22:30)
Is this not a messianic text ? Only the Messiah have all the credentials to do what no mortal man can do ie to intercede for Israel and today Jesus Christ , who is at the right hand of God , is interceding for us (Rom 8:34 ; Heb 7:25 )

๐Ÿ’ž Beloved Church, today there are gaps in the churches and in the ministry — Gaps that are created by us and by others. We need to check it out, and volunteered ourselves to stand in the Gap.

Glory to God ๐Ÿ™
