Thankless attitude is abnormal for a Christian

Ezra 3:10-11 “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.”

The Israelites were in exile, away from their homeland.
After 70 years of exile from their land, the people of Israel returned with Ezra.

Now they are in Jerusalem the spiritual capital of their true homeland.

Then they began the rebuilding of lives and family and the Temple in the promised land.

When they had laid the foundation for the temple, they took time to sing praises to the Lord.

They had a lot to be thankful for as they had endured so much.

But God was always there and God provided for them in exile and when they returned back home.

According to Paul, a Spirit-filled believer is ………..
………. a thankful believer,
a joyful believer,
a praying believer.

If we are filled with the Spirit, thanks will flow out of us for everything.

Even in times of trouble,………. Paul says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

In times of great anxiety, fear, worry and stress, be thankful.

“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. … Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him”* (Colossians 3:15, 17).

Do we rejoice always?
Are we thankful for everything?
A thankless attitude is abnormal for a Christian.
We are to give thanks in all things.

However, giving thanks can be difficult, when we struggle and when our circumstances are difficult.

We refuse to give thanks when we’re burdened with troubles and worries.

But… dear friends,….. When burdens are lifted, there will be an amazing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual change.

So… the next time we’re feeling down or burdened, remember all the good that comes from thanking the Lord, and lift our voice in gratefulness.

God is right—it is good to give thanks.
