Joseph bowed down with his face to the ground

  • “GOD’S JOSEPH”.

“Then Joseph removed them from Israel’s knees and bowed down with his face to the ground”. Genesis 48:12.

Joseph is the mighty Governer of Egypt and Jacob is an old man, who is about to die. Joseph went with his sons to meet his father Jacob, to show his respect to him and to get his blessings.

Joseph bowed down with his face to the ground“. What a wonderful example of respecting parents. Jacob in turn blessed Joseph and his sons.

*Today many children, when they become rich / powerful / influential, forget their parents and some even ill treat them. *Few parents have even cursed their children and grandchildren in their mind.

“Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” Exodus.20:12.

Let us show love, care and respect to our parents when they are alive.

His brothers then came and threw themselves before him, “We are your slaves” they said.(Gen.50:18)

They sold him as a slave and now they are offering themselves as his slaves.

The brothers of Joseph , earlier “bowed down before him to the ground”, knowing him only as the Governor of Egypt.(Gen.42:6; 43:26,28 ; 44:14). Now after the death and burial of their father Jacob, Joseph’s brothers came and ” threw themselves before him”, “we are your slaves”.

Joseph never ill-treated them but is again reassuring them about his love and care for them.

You intended to harm me, but God intended that for good to accomplish what is now being done. (Gen.50:20).

If God is on our side, He can convert all harm for our good. Nobody will be able to stop God’s blessings on those who honour Him. God will bless His children before those who ill treated them.

LORD, help me to be a Joseph.
