๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿฆฐ Unloving & Disunited ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Isaac and Rebekah had two sons, Esau and Jacob. They were twins. But they were unloving and disunited brothers though they were twins. Esau was very hairy and he became a skillful hunter. Jacob was a quiet man staying within the tent.

Partiality
God given children should be treated without partiality. But Isaac loved Esau and Rebekah loved Jacob. This partiality had an evil effect on the sons.

๐Ÿฅฃ Birthright Sold ๐Ÿฅฃ
Just for the sake of bread and stew when he was famished, Esau sold his birth right to his brother Jacob. This made Esau despise his birth right.

Jacob steals Esau’s blessings

Next with the help of his mother Jacob usurped Isaac’s blessings. Isaac asked Esau to hunt a wild animal and prepare tasty food that he liked so that he could bless him. Before he could do that Rebekah cunningly prepared young goats and asked Jacob to go and receive his father’s blessings.

Partiality led to grudge & hatred
Jacob was afraid to trick his brother. But his mother made him do it. She dressed him in Esau’s clothes and covered his hands and neck with goat’s skin because Esau was hairy. Isaac was old and could not recognize by sight. Jacob deceived his father and received the blessings which really belonged to his brother.

๐ŸŽ Bitterness of Esau ๐ŸŽ
Esau wept bitterly when he came to know that Jacob had cheated him and received his blessings. He was filled with grudge and bitterness and wanted to kill Jacob soon after his father’s death.

Jacob fled to Laban
Rebekah quickly sent Jacob away to Laban her brother, lest he be killed by his brother.

๐Ÿ—’๏ธ A Note to Parents ๐Ÿ—’๏ธ

  1. Parents should never treat their God given children with partiality. They should be treated equally in a God fearing manner.
  2. The consequences of partiality is destructive. It only leads to grudge and hatred among children and very often creates separation.
