📖 Isaiah Chapter 5 : 1 – 7
God’s people were like a vineyard (v 1-2):
✅ It was planted in a good and fertile land.
✅ He took care to prepare the ground; loosen the soil.
✅ He cleared the stones and planted the best vines.
✅ He built a Watchtower to protect the crops.
✅ He put a Winepress to store the wine.
📌 The Lord said, “What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it”? v 4

Yes, what more could have done for the vineyard is the lasting question❓

📌 He came (v 4b) but only to find the Bad Fruits, and so He asked them to judge between what he has done and what they have done (v 3)
🎯 What we are doing for the Lord is the question for us to ponder.

📌 There is no excuses and so the Lord pronounces his judgement (v 5-6):
~ The hedges will be removed.
~ The wall will be broken down.
~ There will be no rain.
~ The vineyard will be a wasteland.
🎯 The Lord will bring total destruction.

📌 God’s people (Israelites) were like a vineyard that produced only Bad Grapes, despite God’s meticulous cultivation and care. Wherever God looked in Judah for justice, he found only bloodshed. His quest for righteousness was met with cries of distress (v 7)

💞 Beloved Church, like in today’s passage, the Lord has done great things for us. Yes, what more He would do? For “God demonstrates his own love for us; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us “Rom 5:8. Thus, salvation is made free for all of us.

✅ Let us ponder:
🎯 If we as a vineyard produces Bad Fruits, despite God’s meticulous cultivation and care, shall we expect His greetings “Well done, My good servant”❓

🎯 What God sees when he comes and inspect our vineyard‼️

Isaiah 7

Isaiah gives a prophetic word to K.Ahaz, King of Judah, at the Lord’s command when the king of Syria joined forces with Israel to fight against Judah, vs 1.

As Judah is shaken by this spirit of treachery on Israel’s part, God sends a favorable word to Ahaz, King of Judah through Isaiah the prophet in this regard, vs 2,3, telling him not to be fearful or intimidated, but to stay calm for God was not going to permit their plan to make Tabeel the next king of Judah.

God had already ordained that only the sons of David would rule Judah as kings, and now when an outside force tried to change that, God would see to it that their plan would not prevail, as it went against the very ordinance of God, vs 4-7! In this context, Isaiah prophesies of the coming Messiah and His virgin birth once again affirming that David’s throne would indeed be established right upto the time of the Messiah and no one would be able to change that, vs 14!

From the remainder of the prophecy God affirmed that subsequently the king of Israel and Syria who were coming against him would be destroyed, and the Assyrian army would eventually conquer Israel, vs 17-23, and the land would be covered with thorns and briers, vs 24, while everyone who lived in the heart of the land would feed on curd and honey, vs 22, till the time they learnt to reject evil and choose what is right!

This chapter should encourage us to know that God will always keep His promises to us, no matter how grim our circumstances may appear to be, but we need to hold on to God in sincere faith while making the right confessions, vs 9.

However, conditional promises will require us to fulfill the conditions too, and as we do so faithfully, by His grace, His Word to us will surely come to pass! Amen.
