Isaiah 37:3 “They told him, “This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the moment of birth and there is no strength to deliver them.”

In the above verse we read a a proverbial expression…. “For the children are come … –

The meaning of this figure is very clear.

There was the highest danger, and need of aid.

It was as in childbirth in which the pains had been protracted, the strength exhausted, and the mother and the child in extreme danger.

So Hezekiah said there was the most imminent danger in the city of Jerusalem.
Sennacherib, king of the Assyrians, sent threatening, frightening letters to King Hezekiah, and surrounded him with a great army.

They had made all possible preparations for defense.

Hezekiah realised that he had no resources or “no strength” left to fight the Assyrians, …… even though his name, Hezekiah means “strength of God,”

And now, in the most critical time, they felt their energies exhausted, their strength insufficient for their defense, and they needed the interposition of God.

However, Hezekiah did the greatest thing. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…………..

Instead of opening an internal dialogue within himself, Hezekiah directed the talk to his God. And he made the problem the Lord’s problem and not his problem.

So. …………………….. Dear Freinds,
………… learn from King Hezekiah.
……. When fear and messages of terror and anxiety comes, learn not to read it only, but train yourself to spread it before the Lord and surrender it to the Lord.
TRUST THAT GOD NOT ONLY SEES,……… HE HEARS AND KNOWS, BUT ALSO, THAT HE REPLIES AND ANSWERS AND SENDS HIS WORD.
Therefore, take all our fears and our worries, and in His presence, spread it at the feet of the Lord.
Do not keep it in our heart as a secret – this will terrify us.
Do not spread it before others – this will further increase our fear.
Spread it before the Lord and wait for His blessed reply, which will certainly reassure our heart.

In chapters 1-34, Isaiah has delivered a message of judgement on all nations.; including Israel and Judah, for rejecting God. Although there have been glimpses of relief and restoration for the remnant of faithful believers, the climate of wrath, fury, judgement, and destruction has prevailed. Now Isaiah breaks through with a vision of beauty and encouragement. God is just as thorough in his mercy as he is severe in his judgement. God’s complete moral perfection is revealed by his hatred for sin, and this leads to judgement. This same moral perfection is revealed in his love for all he had created. This leads to mercy for those who have sinned but who have sincerely loved Jesus and put their trust in him.

35: This chapter is a beautiful picture of the final kingdom in which God will establish his justice and destroy all evil. This is the world the redeemed can anticipate after the judgement when creation itself will rejoice in God. Chapter 34 spoke of great distress when God will judge all people for their action. Chapter 35 pictures the days when life will be peaceful at last and everything will be made right. Carmel and Sharon were regions of thick vegetation and fertile soil. They were symbols of productivity and plenty.

35:8-10. This highwAy, the “Way Of Holiness”, is the way that righteous pilgrims will take from the desert of suffering to Zion(Jerusalem). It is found only by following God. Only the redeemed will travel God’s highwAy; they will be protected from wicked travelers and harmful animals. God is preparing a way for his people to travel to his home; and he will walk with us. God never stops at simply pointing the way; he is always beside us as we go.

37:3. Judah is compared to a woman who is trying to give birth to a child but is too weak to deliver. When the situation seemed hopeless, Hezekiah didn’t give up. Instead, he asked the prophet Isaiah to pray that God would help his people. No matter how bad your circumstances seem, don’t despair. Turn to God.

We who are part of that future can see that many of then promises God gave through Isaiah have been fulfilled in Jesus Christ. We also gain the hope of knowing that God is active in all of history, including our own

Take to heart

🔹Consuming Fire – Our God is like a fire that consumes evil. Isaiah was reminding that if I want to live in the presence of the consuming fire, I had to obey God. If I trust Jesus as my Savior and seek to please Him, I need not fear living in the fire of His holiness. Isaiah 33 gives examples of how to demonstrate my righteousness and uprightness: I can reject gain from unjust means, refuse to listen to plots of wrong actions, and shut my eyes to evil. If I am fair and honest in my relationships, I will dwell with God, and He will supply my needs.

Truth is: God’s holiness reveals what is good by consuming what is evil.

🔹Making the Most of Time – Evil days are days of opportunity. The more evil our culture becomes, the more opportunities there will be to show and share our faith. Isaiah describes the forces of evil are used in such a way that “all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord, You alone”. Evil times, therefore, are not to be feared. They are times of big opportunity. That’s why I must make the most of them.  

Truth is: God can turn any difficulty into an opportunity.
