🕯️ God’s Word 🕯️

📖 Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; (Jer 15:16).

To Jeremiah God’s Word was joy and rejoicing to His heart. He found His Word and ate them. He kept on thinking of His Word and meditating upon them.

Job treasured the Word of His mouth more than necessary food (Job 23:12).

To David God’s Word was better than thousands of gold and silver. God’s Word was sweeter than honey and honeycomb (Ps 119:72; 19:10).

Jesus Christ overcame the wicked one with the Word of God. The Word of God is the sword that is used in spiritual warfares both to defend and ward off the attacks of the evil one.

Dear Ones in Christ what is the Word of God to us? How much time do we spend reading and meditation on His Word? Are we doers of His Word or mere confessors and claimers of His Word.

We are slowly moving towards days when there will be a great famine for hearing the word of God (Amos 8:11). Before such times approach, let us fill our heart with His Word. Let His Word sink and soak deep in us. Let our lives be rooted deep in His Word.

God bless us to be channels of blessings.

OPEN AIR PREACHING
(📖 Jeremiah 11: 1-17)

The Lord told Jeremiah to “proclaim about the message of His covenant in the Towns of Judah and in the Streets of Jerusalem ” (v 6) . The Lord was insisting Jeremiah to tell the people “LISTEN and OBEY the Terms of the Covenant ” v 2, 3b, 6

WHAT WAS THE TERMS OF THE COVENANT ❓
The text says that the Lord had made the Covenant with their forefathers (v 4, 5) with the following terms :
🔖 Consecration of the firstborn (Exo 13:5)
🔖 Worship the Lord alone and not to idols (Exo 20:3-4 ; Deut 27:15)
🔖 Observe the Sabbath Day (Deut 5:12)
🔖 Abstain from immorality and evil practices (Exo 20:14; Deut 27:20-23)
🔖 Do not mistreat alien, orphans and widows (Exo 22:21-24; Deut 27:19)

WHAT WAS THE REWARD OF THIS COVENANT ❓
The Lord said, ” If they obey and follow His Covenant, he will :
🎁 give them a land flowing milk and honey (Exo 3:8 ; Jer 11:5)
🎁 bless them in numbers, wombs, crops, livestock (Deut 7:12-14)
🎁 protect them from all diseases (Deut 7:15)
🎁 be their God and they will be his people (a treasured possession) Jer 11:4b ; Exo 19:5

WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE ❓
The text says that the Lord had repeatedly warned them and said ” OBEY ME ” (v 7) but they did not listen to him (v 8). They have followed other gods and committed the sins of their forefathers (v 10-13). So Jeremiah was commanded to pronounce the curses that falls upon the people of Israel and Judah (v 3, 11-12 ; Deut 27: 15-26) because they have provoked the Lord with anger (v 17b) .

📝 Jeremiah was faithful and effective in his Open Air Preaching ministry, for he said, “For 23 years God’s Word came to me and I have spoken to you again and again ” Jer 25:3. This preaching ministry has brought him a physical assault (Jer 20:1-2) and there were some group of people who were after his life (Jer 12:19 , 21)

📌 OBEY and FOLLOW His Command is the key to enter His rest 🙌
