(Jeremiah Chapter 42 – 43)

📝 After the assassination of Gedaliah the governor, whom the Babylonian king had appointed, the people of Judah were in deep trouble ( 41:2-3). ✅ Johanan the army commander and his officials lead all the people from Mizpah on a flight to Egypt (41:16-18)
✅ On their way to Egypt they met Jeremiah and asked him to pray and plead their petition to the Lord (42:1-3).
📌 They were afraid and confused, and they wanted to know about God’s Will for them. v 3:

1️⃣ They came to the RIGHT PERSON – Jeremiah: They plead him to pray and ask His direction (v 2-3)

2️⃣ They asked the RIGHT QUESTIONS:
Where should we GO❓
What should we DO❓
🔖 They swear in Yahweh’s name to obey Him (v 5-6)

3️⃣ They received the RIGHT MESSAGE (v 7-22)
🔖 STAY IN JUDAH .
🔖 He will bless them (v 10):
✅ He will build you UP and not tear you DOWN
✅ He will PLANT YOU and not UPROOT YOU

4️⃣ Do not fear the king of Babylon (v 11-12):
🎈 I am with you
🎈 I will save you
🎈 I will deliver you
🎈 I will have compassion upon you

5️⃣ DO NOT GO TO EGYPT (v 13-19). A series of warning was proclaimed:
✔️ You will die by the Sword, Famine and Plaque
✔️ No one will survive or escape
✔️ You will be an object of cursing and horror
✔️ You will be an object of condemnation and reproach.
✔️ You will never see this place (The Promise Land) again ( v 18c)

6️⃣ THEY HAVE REJECTED GOD’S MESSAGE (43:1-7)
✔️ They called Jeremiah the liar .
✔️ God has not sent you .
✔️ They left Judah and went to Egypt .
📌 They have rejected God’s Word because the answer they have received was not what they have expected .

7️⃣ They were punished in Egypt accordingly .

SEEKING GOD’S WILL IS BIBLICAL NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE BUT SEEKING HIS WILL FOR SELFISH AMBITION/ SELF PROMOTION IS WRONG.

📌 There is always safety and benefits if we SEEK God’s Will, OBEY Him and FOLLOW His Precepts. For the Bible says, “.. then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess” Deut 30:16b

DO NOT GO TO EGYPT 👣
PRESS ON TO ZION 🚶🏼‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️
