In this Covid-19 Pandemic for 2021, we have The Balm of Gilead in Christ Jesus, our Healer… Jeremiah 46:11.

🌳 We have crossed over into hopeful 2021 from an infected 2020. But remember, our Healer Jesus Christ, our Balm Gilead, has crossed before us into the next Era. As long as He is our Tower, He will keep us safe, Proverbs 18:10.

🌳 The Prophet Jeremiah was so heartbroken about the poor spiritual state of the people of Israel. He was weeping over the spiritual condition of Israel and especially the godless state of Judah. Jeremiah’s obedience to God’s command, inspite of a hopeless situation, was a vivid lesson to the people of Judah. God had chosen him as His spokesperson because he chose to speak the language of God and not the language of the people; he spoke the worthy and not the worthless, Jeremiah 15:19.

🌳 For their spiritual backsliding and the darkness of their nation, Jeremiah is asking them to go to Gilead and get some Balm, Jeremiah 46:11. Jeremiah asked a rhetorical question in Jeremiah 8:22, “Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?

🌳 He saw people wounded and broken, and needed healing. In Jeremiah 8:5-6, he asked, “Why have this people slidden back? Why is Jerusalem in continual apostasy? No man repented of his wickedness saying, “What have I done!”

So what is the BALM OF GILEAD?

🌳 The Geographical Location:
Gilead was a mountainous region, East of the Jordan River, divided among the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh; situated in Jordan. The Hebrew Word Gilead, means “heap of stones of testimony,” Genesis 31:47-48.

🌳 It is the place where Jacob made a Covenant with Laban. It was also known as Mizpah, meaning Watchtower, Genesis 31:49. The heap of stones and the pillar was a witness that God will watch over Laban’s daughters should Jacob harm his daughters. It was also a witness that neither of them will cross over to their side to harm each other, Genesis 31:52.

🌳 One of the trees in Gilead secreted turpentine-like resin that was highly sought after because it was highly medicinal. It was used in the treatment of virtually all human diseases. It is said that this balm was worth twice its weight in silver.

🌳 So we too can echo Jeremiah’s thoughts, “How can a people who traded in balm be so sick?” “How can the people of God, with the Law in their midst, be so sinful?!” What was the solution for Israel? They knew the medicinal value of the balm and the Power of Jehovah Rapha the Healer. But they wanted something else and someone else. Jeremiah warned them of the pending destruction, and he pleaded with them to repent and return to God. So they accused him of false prophecy and threw him in the dungeon to die, Jeremiah 38:6.

🌳 Jeremiah was rejected just like Jesus who was rejected the most by those who He came to help, John 1:11. The people of Nazareth did not receive miracles of healing and deliverance because they despised the person and ministry of Jesus Christ. And because of their unbelief, He couldn’t do any mighty miracles among them” Mark 6:5. People around us in this pandemic lockdown should know that there is a ‘Balm of Gilead’ for their sin, sickness and poverty. His Name is Jesus! They should be aware that the price of redemption, healing and salvation has been paid for on Calvary.

🌳 Dear Child of God, Remember this, The Balm of Gilead is interpreted as a Spiritual Medicine that is able to heal Israel in specific, and sinners in general. It also refers to the New Testament Concept of Salvation through Jesus Christ. Is there any solution in this Corona-infected World? The Balm in Gilead, is the Big Yes!

🌳 God is still watching over us so that Satan can’t harm us. He can’t cross over to our side because The Balm is in the ‘Blood Drawn Boundaries’ of our Spiritual Bloodline over our Territory. Jesus, our Healer, went ahead of us in 2021. He has opened a huge highway for us, and we entered into it from 2020 in 2021 safely delivered. He will take us and our generations through to the next decade and era… Amen.🙏
