The New Norm in this Pandemic Lockdown is to know that The Ancient Old Path is the New Life Path…Jeremiah 6:16

🔔In this Lockdown I was forwarded videos of few profit making prophets with their false prophecies of manipulating fearful people among the videos of few weeping prophets. People without any personal revelation from God through His infallible Word, will get sucked up with all kinds of unbiblical teachings if they don’t have the gift of discernment. It is time we subscribed to God’s Word and spend time with Him and learn to wait on Him and listen to His voice and obey Him. God will not speak to us outside of His Word.

🔔The Prophet Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet because he had one of the most difficult assignment in the history of Israel. His was a faithful servant with a fruitless mission. Is there any wonder why he wept.? We need to go back to the ancient path ways to see the Jeremiahs who will weep over a nation and for its nationals, otherwise we will see prophets entertaining the masses.

🔔God does not call us to be successful in our mission but to be faithful in our mission. Even when Jeremiah knew Israel will not repent, he kept on admonishing God’s people because He was serving God and fulfilling His purpose. He did this for about 40 years or more, without giving up, or throwing both hands up in the air because of the sheer frustration. Even when at times he didn’t feel like it, he never gave into his emotional feelings but went on to do God’s good work.

🔔The nation was languishing under the threat of their impending punishment which was the Babylonian captivity, and repentance was its only hope, therefore, the prophet pleaded with them to repent and return to Jehovah. God in Jeremiah 6:16, Thus says the LORD: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.” But they said, “We will not walk in it.”

🔔Child of God, Remember this, Israel blatantly refused to walk in the path that was walked by their godly forefathers. They choose their way and not God’s Way. On this CHRISTmas day we should ponder on this: One way, Jesus, You are the only one I could live for. Israel was at a crossroad and they had to choose which way to go, the old ancient path, or their own sinful path!

🔔Even after there was a stern warning that Judah will be harvested like a crop of grapes and their juice squeezed out and that Yahweh would definitely “visit” them, and cast them down, they chose to believe the false prophets who protested, claiming that “peace” would prevail and destruction would not come, Jeremiah. 6:9-15.

🔔It was imperative that they repent and hasten back to the Lord. If they would return, “rest” and peace could be their possession again. Jeremiah spoke of the “old paths” which was “the good way”. It suggests that there was a happier times in their history then the distressing time they were going through. Deutronomy 32:7. It also suggests that God had charted a path of truth, righteousness and straightness, Psalms 17:5, 23:3, 107:7, Jeremiah 31:9. It was the way Israel was expected to walk, 1 Kings 8:36.

🔔To “walk” in the “old paths” means exactly as obeying that which the Lord has commanded. “But this command I gave them: “Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.” Jeremiah. 7:23.

🔔Sometimes it is hard to think how can God’s people drift away from God. Jehovah’s invitation to ancient Judah, to stand in the “old paths,” is clear evidence that the Israelites had wandered from the Lord’s teaching, commands and instructions. Over and over again Jeremiah stresses that the nation of Judah is a ‘backsliding’ people
they have committed iniquity, sin, transgression, against Yahweh. Over and over Jeremiah stresses that the nation of Judah should thus ‘return’ to the Lord. Over and over Jeremiah stresses that the nation of Judah, because of their sins, would be ‘scattered’, and held ‘captive’ by the Babylonians.

🔔Jesus said, that He Himself was “the Way” to fellowship with the Father, John14:6. His new covenant, makes it plain that this “way” became the exclusive path of truth, inclusive for all, Acts 4:12. The history of Israel should be a warning lesson for us, 1 Corinthians 10:1-6 and ‘return’ to the Lord in this Christmas Lockdown…Amen🙏
