Take a Break with Jesus in the Lockdown 🍞☕
Day 231, 270 Days Bible Reading, Tuesday, 2.3.21.

In this Lockdown let us surrender our messed-up lives into the Hands of Jesus Who will turn it into a life with a message of No Condemnation… John 8:11.

🌹 Whatever has happened in our lives will not hinder our spiritual walk with God when we surrender our messes and mistakes to Him. Let us see the messes and every fragment of a broken life being made into a beautiful message by looking at the woman caught in adultery, John 8:1-11.

🌹 The woman was brought to the Lawgiver, accused of breaking the Law. The Lawgiver can use the Law with Truth and Justice. He knew that the men broke the Law by not bringing the man involved in the Adultery, Leviticus 20:10. The religious leaders were gender-biased. Jesus came with Truth and Grace, whereas Moses came to give the Law. Only Jesus could extend Grace to what the Law Demanded, which was Death, John 1:17.

🌹 Jesus is the Grace of God, Titus 2:11. Grace gives us the power to do what we can’t do. Grace empowered the Woman to stand audaciously, boldly and courageously before Jesus.* She stood long enough until He spoke the Word. She could have gone once the men left. But, she waited for the Word for her. She not only learnt to linger in His Presence, to receive His Light, but learnt to wait to hear from Him. What was the Word for her?

🌹 The Word for her was: Go, and Sin no more! John 8:11. Yes, she had to know that she had sinned. But she must also know that she has a way out of sin through Jesus and not go back to a sinful lifestyle. Each one of us must wait long enough in His Presence to hear from Him, in this Lockdown. The picture of the woman caught in the act of adultery is one of grace and forgiveness. She did not end up before Jesus of her own volition, yet it was the best thing that could have happened to her. She came before Him with her sin, but He acquitted her and did not condemn her.

🌹 This woman teaches us that no matter what the scale of our struggles, challenges and sins are, we can come before Jesus and be as bold, yet vulnerable, as she was, in the confession of our weaknesses. It is in this way that we obtain “Mercy and Grace in time of our need” as she did, Hebrews 4:16. The infamous Woman caught in Adultery was standing in front of Jesus with minimum body covering physically and no head covering spiritually! It Must have caused sore eyes for many. How humiliating and degrading it must have been for her! But she stands by herself, all alone, with no defense lawyer to argue her case. But, Jesus took up her case! She was Enveloped by the Enduring Love of God.

🌹 Child of God, Remember this, unknowingly the men brought the woman to the Perfect Place — to Jesus! Wouldn’t it be nice if the devil dragged us to Jesus each time we did something wrong, only to be enveloped by His Agape Love?! That is exactly what the Woman got. The devil thought the woman would be stoned to death. Instead, she got the Life of God Himself. Through this woman we learn that Jesus is always ready and willing to forgive and extend His grace. She also teaches us that the same grace empowers us to no longer be victims, or “to be slaves of sin,” but “to go and sin no more.”

🌹 Nothing that we could say or do can separate us from the Love of God, Romans 8:39 and nothing we do will cause Him to leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) when we turn to Jesus in repentance. Whatever the size, shape, depth or breadth of your sin is, confess it to Him. No matter how many times it comes up, go before Him to the Throne of Grace, Hebrews 4:16.

🌹 When the men with their dark deeds stood with the woman, Jesus Stooped down to write, John 8:8. When the men left one by one, until the Woman was by herself, Jesus Stood up, John 8:10. JESUS WILL STAND UP FOR US WHEN WE ARE ON OUR OWN. HE WILL STOOP WHEN OTHERS ARE FALSELY ACCUSING US. Let us bring all our mess and mistakes to be made bold and beautiful by His Presence and Word… Amen. 🙏
