📕 Joshua 6:20
“When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted… the wall ( of Jericho) collapsed.. “

Revisiting the Fall of Jericho

1) VICTORY BEFORE THE BATTLE : The people of Jericho, according to Rahab, were terrified when they heard all about God’s doing in Israel’s Deliverance from Egypt ; Crossing the Red Sea ( Jos 2:9-11 ) and now they were extremely terrified to face the Israelites when they heard about the Crossing of Jordan river ( Jos 5:1 )

📝 Jesus said , ” In this world you will have trouble. But take heart I have OVERCOME the world ” John 16:33

2) DEPEND ON GOD’S PLAN : For Joshua or any other military commander on that DAY, might have the speculation that they were at the right place and at the right time to attack 🔫👊 . They were strong and the enemies were weak .

🌈 God’s plan is different for he wanted Joshua to resume two Covenantal Ceremonies at Gilgal in accordance with the laws from Sinai ( 5:2-3 ; 10-12 ) :
✅ the rite of Circumcision
✅ the Feast of Passover
Both were significant preparations for the conquest of the promised land.

📝 Isaiah writes, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways are my ways “, declares the Lord . 55:8

3) REMEMBER THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD :
💫 He will send the Commander of his army ( 5:13-15 )
💫 He will give orders ( 6:3-5 )
March around the city.. Priests blowing the trumpets..
💫 He will give assurance ( 6:2 ) :
I have delivered Jericho into your hand
💫 He demands obedience ( 6: 6- 16 )
Joshua called the priests and order the people to advance.. and they did what the Lord had commanded

4) WITNESS THE FALL OF JERICHO ( 6:20-25 )
On the 7th day when the priests sounded the trumpet blast and the people gave a loud shout, the wall of Jericho collapsed and the whole city was destroyed completely.

💞 Beloved church, we have fought many battles, and may be we won some, and yet there are still more Jerichos to conquer. Remember every Jerichos has its EXPIRY DATE. Let us go back to our Gilgal for :
📌 Consecration ( 5: 2- 8 )
📝 “Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, circumcise your hearts.. ” Jer 4:4

📌 Renewal of His covenant ( 5:9-10 )
📝 “… Renew them in our day, in our time make them known.. ” Hab 3:2

📌 Guidance ( 6: 2-5 )
📝 “Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me.. ” Psalm 43:3
And all the Jerichos will be collapsed in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ ✝️
