“Moses the servant of the Lord” was instrumental in delivering Israelites from Egyptian bondage.He lead them for 40 years through the wilderness.He died in Moab at the age of 120 years. (Deut.34:5; 31:2)

Now the leadership of leading Israelites to the promised land, Canaan, take possession of it and dividing the land to all the people fell on Joshua.(Deut.31:7,8).He was around 40 years younger to Moses and was his aide.He was second in command to Moses.

The task is a huge one. LORD Himself spoke to Joshua and commanding him as His appointed leader over His people.(Joshua.1:1-9)

1. PROMISE KEEPING GOD. Joshua.1:3,4,5.
   a) Promising land.1:3,4.
   b) Promising success over enemies.1:5
   c) Promising presence and help.(1:5c.I will never leave you or forsake you.)
2. GOD Of HISTORY, GOD OF PRESENT and GOD OF FUTURE Joshua 1:5,6..
   a) As I was with Moses.1:5a .40 years from Egypt to Moab.(history)
   b) I will be with you.(1:5b.present)
   c) I will never leave you nor forsake you.1:5c.You will lead these people.v.6b.(future)
3. STRENGTHENING GOD. Josh.1:6,7,9.
   a) Be strong and courageous.1:6a.
   b) Be strong and very courageous. 1:7a.
   c) Be strong and courageous. 1:9b.
   d) Do not be terrified.1:9c.
   e) Do not be discouraged. 1:9d.
4. CONDITION FOR SUCCESS Josh.1:7,8.
   a) Be careful to obey all the law. 1:7b.
   b) Do not turn from it to the right or to the left. 1:7c.
   c) Keep the book of the law always in your mouth. 1:8a.
   d) Meditate on it day and night. 1:8b.
   e) Carefully practice everthing written in it.1:8c.

In the following chapters, we can see how God kept His promises. Joshua followed the Lord always, obeyed Him completely and successfully accomplished his task.

God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,..God of Moses , God of Joshua is our God.

He who brought us thus far in our life, is able to lead us even in the days to come.He is able to give us strength instead of fear, courage instead of discouragement, prosperity instead of poverty, success instead of failure…

Let us always meditate His word, understand it properly and practice it fully.

LET US BE A JOSHUA FOR THE LORD.
