Everyone did what was right according to himself

The Book of Judges end with a peculiar note that says:

📖 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes (Judges 21:25).

No king, no ruler, everyone did what was right according to himself. A beautiful, splendid start in Egypt dragging along in a pathetic manner in the Promised Land.

Didn’t we all start our spiritual journey in a glorious manner on the day we gave our life to Jesus! Over the years as years went on, is it well with our soul? This verse is a silent warning to the readers. I couldn’t help thinking about Jesus who said His purpose was to do the will of His Father.

📖 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me (Jn 6:38).

Jesus clearly said that He did nothing of His own. His Father’s will was His will. What about us? Is doing His will our primary priority in life? Or do we live doing what is right in our own eyes? The Apostle Paul also was clear about this. He wrote in his Epistle:

📖 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify (1 Cor 10:23).

Dear ones in Christ, what we do, what we say, what we see, how we act and how we react make an impact on those who are watching us. At times we may be the only Bible a person may be seeing. We cannot do as we like and we cannot say what we want. Let our lives glorify our Father in Heaven. May we never be a stumbling block to those with us and around us.

God bless us to be channels of blessings.
