God’s Procedure Manual for Infection Control

What can we learn from God’s Procedure Manual for Infection Control in our Lockdown?…. Leviticus Chapters 13-15

😷The Corona Virus has gone from Epidemic, to Pandemic to Endemic in the last five months and still there is no perfect solution for dealing with the Covid19. Now there are more information about the virus than five months ago that is being shared globally to reduce the death rates. God had laid down strict laws on how to manage infectious diseases from spreading in the Israelites camp. The High Priest and the priests were responsible to implement the laws as soon as there was an infected person in the camp as they were responsible for the well being of the people.

😷Leprosy was a dreaded disease and the leper was put outside of the camp and the words Isolation and Quarantine is what we use in the the modern times. Isolation comes from the Latin root word meaning Island and Quarantine comes from the French root word meaning Forty or Forty days period. So the idea of Isolation goes back to Leviticus 13:46, “As long as they have the disease they remain unclean. They must live alone; they must live outside the camp.”

😷The idea Mask and Social Distancing can be traced back to Leviticus 13:45. _“Anyone with such a defiling disease must wear torn clothes, let their hair be unkempt, cover the lower part of their face and cry out, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’

The mask used during this pandemic covers the lower face. When anyone had dreaded disease they cried out unclean, unclean so that others will move away from them to keep social distancing.

Disposal of contaminated clothes can also be traced to Leviticus 13:57, But if it reappears in the fabric, in the woven or knitted material, or in the leather article, it is a spreading mold; whatever has the mold must be burned.

😷Clear instructions are given for washing infected or contaminated clothes in Leviticus 15:13, “And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean”(KJV).

😷Child of God, Remember this, God cares about our physical well being. There were no Infectious Diseases Hospital in the wilderness. God had given special instructions for His people through the Laws He gave. It had to be kept. Health and Hygiene was prescribed by God Himself. The people came to the Priests the moment an contagious disease, was suspected even if it was a rash and the person was isolated for seven days until it was certified whether they were positive or negative by the priests, and repeatedly examined, Leviticus 13:2-11

😷With all the science and technology and education, we read about the confusion of whether or not to wear mask, whether to do social distancing and people not wanting to go by the rules. There is still no universal policy for the Covid 19, but God in His Wisdom gave His people laws to safeguard His Community and they had to follow the Divine Protocol…. Amen🙏

Verse of the day 📜

📖
The priest is to go outside the camp and examine them. If they have been healed of their defiling skin disease, the priest shall order that two live clean birds and some cedar wood, scarlet yarn and hyssop be brought for the person to be cleansed. Leviticus 14 : 3-4
📖

Here we find the CLEANSING CEREMONY that had to be performed before a healed leper for returning to normal society. A bird was killed in an earthen vessel over running water. The blood of that bird was applied to a second, living bird, as well as to cedar wood, scarlet fabric, and hyssop. The priest then sprinkled some of the blood onto the person who was healed from leprosy. The living bird was let go, and the blood spread from its wings as it flew over the land.

Finally, after the cleansing ceremony with the birds, the leper was to wash his clothes and shave off all of his hair. He was starting over again as if he were a newborn baby, showing a clear picture of being born again.

The cedar wood is a picture of the wooden cross Jesus was sacrificed on. Many believe that cross was probably made of cedar, as few other kinds of trees were available in Israel. The hyssop is also connected to the sacrifice of Jesus. He was offered a drink from a hyssop branch while on the cross.

There is a clear comparison between the cleansing ceremony of a leper and Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, which served as the supreme sacrifice for sin. Jesus is the heavenly sacrifice just as the bird that died in the earthen vessel was an earthly sacrifice. The sacrificed bird remained clean because of the running water, and Jesus was without sin. The blood and water was then applied to the living bird, in the same way the sinner’s heart must be covered by Jesus’ shed blood, for without its application there is no REDEMPTION.

PRAYER 🙏
Heavenly father thank you for the word you have given us. Thank you, Lord, for the new life you have given us through Christ who is cleansing all our sins. My Lord Jesus thank you for examining and healing our illnesses and weaknesses. All glory to you Lord,
in Jesus name we pray,
Amen
