We can Worship in the Lockdown with Thanksgiving as Sacrifice, for Our High Priest was in the Substance of the Shadow of the Levitical Sin and Guilt Offerings… Leviticus Chapters 4&5.

🪔The Old Testament comes alive when we can see Jesus in all the various the offerings especially made by fire….

“…an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord“, Leviticus 1:9.

🪔How much more when we see the revealed truth in the New Testament…

🪔Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma, Ephesians 5:1-2.

🪔If we are troubled with sin, guilt and failure, we can look up in Faith to Jesus, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world, Revelation 13:8, and Praying on our behalf, Hebrews. 7:25. He has Perfectly Paid for our sins so that we might offer to Him not another sacrifice for sin, but the Sacrifice of Thanksgiving Hebrews. 13:15.

🪔All the Sacrifices are the Shadow of Jesus and His Redemptive Work in the Burnt Offering, Sin Offering & Guilt Offering, Leviticus Chapters 1-5.

🪔The Book of Leviticus Begins with five different offerings for the Old Covenant Worship. These offerings are the Burnt offering, the Grain offering, the Peace offering, the Sin offering, and the Guilt offering.

🪔Three of these offerings relate to sin and its effects, namely, Burnt Offering, Sin Offering and Guilt Offering. They highlight the different ways in which sin affects the Worshipper, the Place of Worship, and the Communities.

🪔In the New Testament, Jesus fulfilled these three types of sin-sacrifices in a way that highlights the different facets of Christ’s redemptive work on our behalf. Jesus became the Burnt Offering of Aroma, the Sin Offering on our behalf to pay for our sins and the Guilt Offering.

Let’s look at two of the offerings

Sin Offering Chapter 4:1-35
🪔The Focus of the Sin offering in Leviticus Chapter 4 was Cleansing. The whole animal was not sacrificed, mostly was burnt outside of the camp. Jesus was crucified outside camp of the Temple on Golgotha, Hebrews 13:12

🪔The unique thing about this sacrifice was that the sacrificial blood was used to cleanse the furniture in the tabernacle, signifying that sin pollutes God’s sanctuary.

🪔The Priest would sprinkle the veil which separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies seven times, and he would also put blood on the horns of the altar of incense. Here we see that the consequences of sin doesn’t just affect us, but it blemishes the sanctuary or we might say it affects the whole Church.

The Guilt Offering Leviticus 5:14-19.
🪔This sacrifice focuses on making right after doing wrong. Payment has to be done for being guilty of doing wrong.

🪔Forgiveness was dependent upon the worshipper making amends, and the sacrificial animal was viewed as a restitution. After being Forgiven we need to make things right. In the New Testament, Zacchaeus paid back that which he had cheated fourfold, Luke.19:8. Jesus said, First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew. 5:23-24

🪔Child of God, Remember this, God doesn’t dwell in the tabernacle or temple today, He resides in us who have become the Temple of God, 1Corinthians 3:16. Jesus came to “sprinkle our hearts,” “cleansing them from the pollution of sin,”Hebrews 10:22. Jesus is described as our sin offering in Hebrews 13:10-12. Jesus was our Priestly Sacrifice who sprinkled the Temple of our Hearts with His Blood, cleansing them once and for all.

Jesus has taken our guilt upon Himself, Hebrews 13:11-15.
🪔In this lockdown, let’s examine our hearts and seek God to put things right where we have gone astray. Let’s reset, recalibrate and realign with the Word of God and His Ways and our lockdown season should be a cleansing season for our hearts just as soap and water is for the corona virus…. Amen🙏
