All Coins are Precious (Luke 15:8-10)

The Parable of THE LOST COIN is one of the most popular passage while dealing with the topic : REPENTANCE

1๏ธโƒฃ It reveals GOD’S CONCERN :
๐ŸŒˆ God treats us equal ( Ezk 18:32 )
๐ŸŒˆ He looks for us when we are lost ( Gen 3: 8–9 )
๐ŸŒˆ He welcomes us when we come back to Him ( Mat 11:28-29 )

2๏ธโƒฃ It focus on the VALUE of a COIN :
โœ… One coin was more than a day’s wage during Jesus’ time .
โœ… The mark of a married woman was a hair dress made of 10 silver coins linked together by a silver chain. 10 signifies completeness.
๐Ÿ“Œ 10 Coins or 10 Commandments. Both are important. If one is lost or disobeyed then that person is guilty (James 2:10 )

3๏ธโƒฃ It helps us to ponder on WHY and HOW people are lost .
๐Ÿ“ People who have no opportunity of loving and obeying God.
๐Ÿ“ Those who have a good opportunity of loving and obeying God but have refused to do .
๐Ÿ“ Those who do not have true conviction.

Today’s passage did not tells us how the COIN was lost. Let us assume that all the coins were kept in one bag ๐Ÿ’ฐ

1๏ธโƒฃ THERE WAS NO PROBLEM as long as the coins were inside the bag ๐Ÿ’ฐ
Bible says, ” How good it is when brothers live together in unity” Psalms 133:1

2๏ธโƒฃ THERE WAS PROBLEM when one coin was lost .

โœ… The coin was lost due to the woman’s carelessness. Woman represents Church Leaders.
๐Ÿ“Œ Today many are lost because of the leaders’ attitudes or mismanagement in the Church/Ministry.
โœ… The coin was lost but it was inside the house ๐Ÿก
๐Ÿ“Œ Today many are lost even if they are in the church/fellowship. No personal conviction.
โœ… The coin was lost when it was dark inside the home. For she burn the lamp ๐Ÿช”
๐Ÿ“Œ Today many are lost when there is darkness inside the church / fellowship / family.

The good thing about the woman is that:

๐Ÿ“Œ She counted the coins and found that one coin is missing.
Today how many pastors and the leaders are doing this ( Personal Caring and Counselling )โ“
Bible says, ” Be sure you know the conditions of your flocks , give careful attention to your herds.” Prov 27:23
๐Ÿ“Œ She burn the lamp.
๐Ÿ“Œ She swept the house .

The story ends with celebration:

๐Ÿ™Œ The lost coin was found .
๐Ÿ™Œ The woman was filled with joy .
๐Ÿ™Œ She share the Good news to others.

Heaven rejoices when one sinner repents and comes at the feet of Jesus ๐Ÿ™Œ

BE CAREFUL LEST YOU WILL BE LOST THE WAY THE COIN WAS LOST .

Luke 13: 3: โ€œBut unless you repent, you too will all perishโ€.

Here we read a categorical statement !!
BUT UNLESS YOU REPENT YOU TOO WILL ALL PERISHโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ..

REPENT OR PERISH โ€“ Two options given by Jesus to the crowd.

Two options are given to us today.

Repentance means literally “to change your mind,” that is “to change the way you think.”

Repentance isnโ€™t just guilt or regret.

We can be sorry for the consequences of our actions, but if we are not changing our heart and our thoughts, there will be consequences.

Repentance helps us recognize our inadequacy, the weakness of our flesh, and our need for God.

Without repentance, weโ€™re blinded by our own pride and prejudice, and we continue to be self-centered.

Repentance is the center and source of the Christianโ€™s power; Repentance is at the very core of the Christianโ€™s life.

We are called to live a life of repentance before God,a complete surrender to God.

We need to go on repenting to the end of our lives.

A wise old saint said “I will hope to carry my repentance to the very gate of heaven.”

Are we ready to repent??

Two options – repent or perish – make our choice.
