Mark 9:2-4
After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
Moses and Elijah appeared before Jesus. Moses was the lawgiver and Elijah was a prophet. Moses passed on the laws to the people that God gave him. Moses’ appearance signified to the Apostles that God’s laws were important to Jesus as He came to fulfill it.
Similarly, Elijah’s role as a prophet was to bring God’s message to the people as to how God wanted them to live. Elijah’s presence meant that Jesus was also fulfilling the role of a prophet by bringing enlightenment, correction and understanding to the people.
Matthew 5:17 says, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
Transfiguration signifies that Jesus himself is law and also a prophet.

“Bring him unto me”
The poor, disappointed father turned away from the disciples to Jesus.
His son was in the worst condition and all means have failed.
The miserable child was
soon delivered from the evil one, when the parent in faith obeyed the Lord Jesus ‘s word, “Bring him unto me.”
Children are a precious gift from God.
They may be a great joy or great bitterness to their parents, they may be filled with the Spirit of God, or possessed with the spirit of evil.
In all cases, the Word of God gives us one receipt for the curing of all their ills,” Bring him unto me “.
When children grown up and foam with enmity against God, we should remember our Great Physician’s words, “Bring him unto me.”
We must never cease to pray.
No case is hopeless when Jesus lives.
Jesus can remove our sorrows.
He delights to comfort us while He wants to meet us.

Mark 9:38
“John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.”
✝️ In the above lines we do not hear anything more about the 👨 man who was casting out demons in Jesus’ name. The man had the knowledge about the power in the name of ‘Jesus’. He must have seen, observed and also heard about the wonderful miracles Jesus performed amongst the people. Also we can observe that the man had great and deep Faith in Jesus as it is not possible to perform great miracles without ‘Faith.’ For in John 15:12 Jesus says, “In all truth I tell you, whoever believes in me will perform the same works as I do myself, and will perform even greater works, because I am going to the Father.”
✝️ Brethren there are many ways to serve the Lord. God has bestowed upon us gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we are able to serve the Lord in different ways. One person may possess the gift of healing another one – wisdom, to another – prophecy etc.. God has given us the gifts to Glorify His Great Name and for the good of all people.
👏 Let us be grateful for the gift or gifts that the Lord has given to us and make good use of it. Let not these gifts make us proud or make us feel superior to others. For we all are called to build the Living ⛪ church according to the Grace and Faith we have in Jesus Christ. Amen.

Warning Against Offenses

Mark 9:42. Jesus said, Whoever causes one of this little ones who believe in Me, to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.

What is the meaning of offenses? Offenses means causing someone to stumble and fall.

1. Our words and woŕks or deeds should not cause someone who may be a little one ,who believe in Jesus to stumble and fall in his faith or backslide. If they stumble and fall, it is better for us to tie the millstone around our neck and to be thrown in the depth of the sea. When we are thrown in the sea like this, definitely we will die. That means, this sin of offense or making others to stumble is so cruel and is meant for death.

Yes, our hard words, backbiting, wounding words which causes others heart to bleed, accusing and judging others, not doing our God given duties will make many people to stumble in the families and churches. So let us be careful not to involve in such offenses.

Jesus said, woe to the man, by whom the offense comes. Mathew 18:7. Also avoid them, who cause divisions and offenses. Romans 16: 7.
Give no offenses to others, and to the church of God .1 Corinthians 10: 32.Therefore let us not cause any one to stumble in their life.

2. Also, we should not stumble . If we are not rooted in the word of God, when tribulation and persecution comes for the sake of the word, we will stumble. Mark 4: 17. Also Jesus said, if our eyes make us to stumble, pluck it out, if our hands or legs make us to stumble, cut it off and cast it from us ,because it is profitable for us to loose or one member of the body to perish than the whole body to cast into hell.

Philipians 1: 10 says, approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ. Therefore let us not make others to stumble. Also we should be careful not to stumble because of others and also because of our sinful acts. May God help each one of us to be pure and holy with out stumbling. Amen, Hallelujah.
