The Graceful Entry ๐Ÿ“œ Genealogy of Jesus Christ

Between the Book of Malachi and the Gospel of Matthew there was a silent period of nearly 400 years. The Old Testament starts with the Creation History. The New Testament starts with the Genealogy of Jesus Christ.

Creation slowly proceeds to give an account of the creation of the first man, his glorious start, his pathetic fall and the consequences of his disobedience. Genealogy gently moves to give the birth account of Jesus Christ, the Magi, escape to Egypt, the massacre of the babies and the return from Egypt.

The first man Adam and his wife Eve succumbed to the plot of the wicked one. Whereas Joseph and Mary were attentive and obedient to God’s guidance. As a result Jesus was protected from the evil plot of Herod. Behind the king it was the wicked one trying his best to spoil Godโ€™s divine plan.

Adam and Eve failed to obey the single command given by God. But Jesus Christ gained victory by not falling into the snare of the evil one. Disobedience of Adam and Eve resulted in losing several privileges. The obedience of Jesus glorified God. And He started preaching the Kingdom message.

Dear ones in Christ, both creation and genealogy are important for faith, science and history. The entire Bible is necessary for a holistic study. Beginnings are equally important as the endings.

We cannot consider the Old Testament to be less important than the New Testament. Without the Old Testament the New Testament is inconclusive. Both are necessary for our faith in God. As we start reading the New Testament may God enlighten our eyes to understand the depth and richness of His word.

God bless us to be channels of blessings.

We are in the book of Matthew, the first book of the New Testament in the Holy Bible.

Now as soon as you start reading the first chapter, you can see that there are many people who came in the lineage of Jesus. You would think that when Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, then all the people in His lineage would be kings or people of very great power or wealth but no, that is not the case here, people even like Rehab, who is a sinner who do wrong things are still in the lineage of Jesus.
This means that Jesus did not just come for the Jews and for people who are good and righteous, He came for sinners as well.

In Matthew 9:13 Jesus says, For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.โ€

The story begins when Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph and before they came together, Mary was pregnant by the Holy Spirit and she was going to give birth to a Holy Child and when Joseph was thinking about this and he came to know he actually thought that it would not be good to take Mary home as his wife because she was going to have a child and there would be a lot of public disgrace. So, he decided not to take Mary home as his wife but God spoke to him.

Sometimes when we use our brains, God has to intervene and then stop us from doing what we think is right. God knows what is good and what is wrong and what is best for our life and he certainly knew what Joseph was thinking is wrong.

Now if you think about it, God sent an angel of the Lord to Joseph in a dream and also told him that he can take home Mary as his wife and it is part of Godโ€™s plan for the world and Joseph accepted that. Matthew 2:20

โœ… *That is the main point we need to accept what Jesus says and not stay on our own thinking after He tells us what is correct.

Joseph was holy and believed in the law and knew that the Messiah would come but he did not know this; he was chosen by God in the plan of Jesusโ€™s birth into the world so that Jesus could save us and everyone else in the entire world.
