He who scatters

Nahum 2:1

Here we read about Babylonians who causes destruction in Assyrians, that is in Nineveh. But in our life too we have an enemy, the devil who is waiting to scatter our life , our family or our church. We should realise this and should follow the instructions given here, so that we can escape from our enemy, who is waiting like a roaring lion to swallow us. Let us meditate these instructions.

  1. Man the fort. ( Gaurd the fortress).
We should watch our fortress or wall around us so that our enemy devil should not break it. Our salvation is the wall or fortress around us. We should sustain in our salvation obeying God always so that the enemy can’t break our wall.
  2. Watch the road.
We should walk in the road which leads to eternal life. The word of God is the light which shows our road to find out any hidden thorns, stones, poisonous insects and even thieves. So we should watch the road so that we will not stumble and fall.
  3. Strengthen your flanks.( gird your loins).
To walk or run in our road properly our loin should be strengthened. We should strengthen our loins with truth or the word of God. Ephysians 6: 14.
  4. Fortify your strength and power mightily.
This shows that it is very important for us to have strength or power. We can receive this power by waiting in the presence of the Lord in prayer, meditating the word of God and also when we rejoice in the Lord . The word mightily shows the importance of the strength. Like the one who scatters is ready to scatter us , we should also be strengthened in our power always.

Therefore let us gaurd our fortress, watch the road, gird our loins and fortify our strength. May God help us to follow these divine instructions do that the one who scatter us can’t scatter us. Amen. Hallelujah.

Assyria was the most powerful nation on earth. Proud in their self- sufficiency and military might, they plundered, oppressed, and slaughtered their victims. One hundred years earlier, Jonah had preached in the streets of the great city Nineveh; the people had heard Godโ€™s message and had turned from their evil. But generations later, evil was again reigning, and the prophet Nahum pronounced judgement on this wicked nation. Nineveh is called a โ€œcity of bloodโ€(3:2),a city of cruelty (3:19), and the Assyrians are judged for their arrogance.(1:11), idolatry (1:14), murder, lies, treachery, and social injustice (3:1-19). Because of their sins, Nahum predicted that this proud and powerful nation would be utterly destroyed. The end came within 50 years.

God would Judge the city of Nineveh for itโ€™s idolatry, arrogance, and oppression. Although Assyria was the leading military power in the world, God would completely destroy this โ€œinvincibleโ€ nation. God allows no person or power to usurp or scoff at his authority.

Anyone who remains arrogant and resists Godโ€™s authority will face his anger. No ruler or nation will get away with rejecting him. No individual will be able to hide from his judgement. Yet those who keep trusting God will be kept safe forever.

God rules over all the earth, even over those who donโ€™t acknowledge him. God is all powerful, and no one can thwart his plans. God will overcome any who attempt to defy him. Human power is futile against God.

If you are impressed by or afraid of any weapons, armies, or powerful people, remember that God alone can truly rescue you from fear or oppression. We must place our confidence in God because he alone rules all of history, all the earth, and our lives.

All the nations hated to be ruled by the merciless Assyrians, but the nationโ€™s wanted to be like Assyriaโ€”powerful, wealthy, prestigiousโ€”and they courted Assyriaโ€™s friendship. In the same way, we donโ€™t like the idea of being ruled harshly, so we do what we can to stay on good terms with a powerful leader. And deep down, we would like to have that kind of power. The thought of being on top can be captivating. But power is seductive, do we should not scheme to
get it or to hold on to it. Those who lust after power will be powerfully destroyed, as was the mighty Assyrian empire.

Nahum 3:1

Woe to the bloody city, completely full of lies and pillage, Her prey never depart.”
๐ŸŽฏ In the ๐Ÿ“– book of prophet Jonah, we find that the people of Nineveh repent when Jonah tells them that their city would be destroyed because of their multitude of sins done in the city by the Lord God.
๐ŸŽฏ In the ๐Ÿ“– book of prophet Nahum, we find that the people of Nineveh do not give up doing what is evil in the sight of God and God brings destruction over the great city and thus the city is ruined forever .
๐Ÿ‘ฟ The people of Nineveh continue to live in sin and commit all kinds of evils that the Lord detests like violence, greed, theft, injustice, sorcery, false witness, unholy things etc.which at the end leads to a total ruin of the great city.

โœ๏ธ Brethren, the Word of God (Bible) teaches us the things that pleases God.
In Romans 8:5,8 says – ” Those who are living by their natural inclinations have their minds on the things human nature desires, those who live in the Spirit have their minds on spiritual things, and those who live by their natural inclinations can never be pleasing to God .”
Also God tells us in Mathew 15:18-20 , “But whatever comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and it is this that makes someone unclean. For from the heart come evil intentions : murder, adultery, fornication, theft, perjury and slander. These are the things that make a person unclean. “

๐Ÿ™ Lord, purify our every thought, so that no unclean thoughts remain in our minds and lead our ๐Ÿ’• hearts in doing what is evil in the sight of God.
Holy Spirit teach us to ๐Ÿšถ walk in the ways of the Lord that lead us to eternal life. Amen.
