The Aftermath
📖 Later when King Xerxes’ fury had subsided, he remembered Vashti and what she had done and what he had decreed about her (Esther 2:1).
In high spirits caused by alcohol and instigated by his counselors the king had banned his beloved queen Vashti forever. Much later he remembered Vashti, what she had done and how he had reacted to her disobedience. Alas! The Persian law was irrevocable.
Was there a tinge of remorse for his hasty insolent behaviour towards his beloved queen? He realized that what had been been done cannot be changed. Perhaps the king determined in his heart secretly not to make hasty decisions hereafter.
Dear ones in Christ, the lesson we learn today is NOT to take life changing decisions in haste and when angry. The mind stops working sensibly when temper increases. Allow matters to cool down by giving time.
Also remember that some people take weeks, days or months to come back to normalcy depending on the enormity of the issue. Never force your decisions or thoughts when someone is really upset or angry. Give time for the healing and cooling process.
At the same time never make important decisions when you are overjoyed. Because in happiness the mind quits working calmly. Give time and take time to return to normalcy. May God give us the grace to take right decisions in the right time and in the right way.
God bless us to be channels of blessings.
