Aaron’s Rod – Significance of Disobedience
Numbers 17: 10
And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
Yesterday we have meditated on 4 different evil natures that ruins us.
One out of which is Murmuring.
We learnt that the root cause of murmuring is rebelliousness.
Today it is reconfirmed from the text verse that we have to be cautious about the rebellious nature.
This rebelliousness is the outcome of disobedience.
In the preceding chapter (Num ch. 16) we notice that Korah and Abiram, along with two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous men of renown, rose against Moses and Aaron. It only led to their destruction.
God confirmed the ministry of the tribe of Levi and of Aaron by causing Aaron’s rod to blossom. The rod was kept as a token against the rebels in the ark of the Covenant.
Servants of God and leaders are appointed by God, and no man can take this honour unto himself. Therefore we should always obey them and be subject to them (read Heb 5:4, 13:7)
The disobedience and murmuring go hand in hand.
Murmuring is the product of disobedience. We have to deal with it at the root level.
We are subject to be obedient to our parents, servants of God, elders, word of God, and leading of the Holy Spirit than gradually the spirit of murmuring will depart from us. Through grace and anointing of the Holy Spirit we can overcome this evil nature.
The Bible has given significance to this deadly virus by allocating one whole chapter to it (Num ch17) so that we may take it seriously.
Jesus set us an example of obedience to Father God, by submitting Himself to the extent of death on the Cross of Calvary….
🎼 Trust and obey, there’s no other way. To be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey. ….🎼
Stay Blessed 😊
