Numbers 16:3 “They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! For all in the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

Korah, like Moses and Aaron, is a Levite.
But as a descendant of Kohath, he does not share the priestly duties of Aaron’s line. Korah’s responsibilities involve carrying the holy things when they move camp.

Behind Korah are the brothers Dathan and Abiram.
Korah and the brothers do not approach Moses and Aaron alone.

They have organized a formidable group of 250 men who have been “appointed members of the council”

In the above verse we read that Korah and his associates bring questions to Moses.
Who are you to assume sole leadership? Do you think you alone can draw near to the LORD?
In response, Moses falls down in prayer.
The men acted out of anger and jealousy., and it did not go well for them.

They and their families died, the 250 men they brought into rebellion with them died, and 14,700 of the people they had stirred up in the community also died.

And, at the end of the day, Moses and Aaron remained in charge.

This is very common among us.
People get jealous and angry when God uses certain people to accomplish certain tasks they view as more prominent or prestigious than the ones they have.

Have you ever felt like asking questions like this?
Why should I listen to him?
Who put him in charge?
I should be in charge. He’s messing everything up. I would be much better at his job, anyway.

Having concerns about leadership in our life is not a sin.
But how we handle those concerns can be. So, how do we handle our concerns in a God-honoring way?
First, examine our motives.
Also seek God’s wisdom in how to handle the situation.
*Ask God to guide us toward resolution rather than rebellion.
Then, go directly to the person and discuss your concerns with them, rather than inciting a riot.

When we allow our emotions to dictate our actions, it does not go well for us either.
Have we seen this kind of jealousy in the church?
How will we avoid being like Korah?
Also, pray God would give us a heart of a servant leader!

VERSE OF THE DAY 📜

The next day Moses entered the tent and saw that Aaron’s staff, which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds. Numbers 17:8

God was tired of the children of Israel complaining about being led by Moses and Aaron. So He instructed Moses to collect a wooden staff, from each of the tribes with their name written on it. God said, “it shall be that the rod of the man whom I choose to lead this people will blossom” (Num. 17:5).

Aaron’s rod, representing the tribe of priests, was set next to the rod from each of the other tribes. The following morning Aaron’s rod had not only blossomed, it had miraculously produced mature, ripe almonds. God was again speaking very clearly to His people so that there could be no doubt in their minds as to whom He had chosen for leadership. The sight of that fruit-filled staff must have been a great surprise to everyone who witnessed it.

Aaron’s staff was a dry, dead stick, but at the TOUCH OF GOD, the staff had literally come back to life. We could say it was resurrected from the dead, which is exactly the sort of thing God still does today with men and women who come to Him. Although every person in the world has been born physically full of life, they are in fact, spiritually dead.

The good news is that through the touch of God, everyone can be born again. The miracle performed on Aaron’s dead staff looked forward to the ultimate miracle of Jesus’ resurrection on that special morning 14 centuries later. And that miracle looks forward to the morning when all who know Him will be made new, and will rise to meet Him.

PRAYER 🙏
Heavenly father thank you for the word you have given us. LORD, help us to live this day in light of the coming resurrection. Lord enable us all blossom through Christ and be fruitful to spread love,
