Numbers – A Wrap up

Numbers is a book where the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness getting nowhere. It starts with 6 lakh people and also ends with 6L people, but not the same people except caleb and Joshua. This book serves as a book of examples and warnings to us as we await our heavenly Canaan.

1-10:10 – At Sinai
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ1->The first census of Israel is taken and all the sons of Jacob are listed according to their fathers try except for the levites because god had chosen the levites for his own work.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ2->The Lord himself plans how each tribe should encamp around His tabernacle. Bible scholars say that it was just like a military camp which implies that God’s children were considered as an army of the Lord.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ3-4->God’s chosen tribe, the Levites are counted and accounted for. God Assigned duties for the sons of Kohath, sons of Gershon and Merari.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ5-> God gives laws for ceremonially unclean people to be kept away from the camp because God dwells in it and also for sexual immorality. He also provides a way for a woman who has been doubted by her husband to prove her innocence.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ6-> Laws were given for the people who wish to consecrate themselves to the Lord as a Nazarite. The offering of separation from the world and to cling to God alone.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ7->Every offering brought by every leader of the father’s house was recorded because anything that we do or gift to God is recorded in His Kingdom as well.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ˜๏ธ9->The Israelites celebrate their second passover in the wilderness as instructed by the Lord through Moses and God dwelled among them and His presence like a cloud covered the tabernacle. The cloud was their guide that whenever it lifted they traveled and whenever it stayed on the tabernacle they made their tents.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ10- Two silver trumpets were made as instructed by God himself that whenever they blew both of them the entire Israel congregation will gather before the door of the tabernacle of meeting. It was also used for various other announcements for the children of Israel.

โ€  10:11-12:16 – Sinai to Kadesh
The children of Israel depart from the wilderness of Sinai and to Kadesh and encamp in the wilderness of Paran.

โ˜๏ธ10- God gives them the order in which each tribe has to move out with the ark of the covenant being carried by the levites leading the way.

When they heard scary news that they were giants in Canaan the children of Israel wept before the lord and was about to kill Moses. Moses again intercedes for the people and the Lord decides that not even one person from this entire congregation will enter the promised land except Caleb and Joshua.

God gives a clear indication by making Aaron’s rod bloom. God tells the Israelites to support the Levitess through offerings and tithes followed by the laws of purification for the priests.

Numbers provides us a paralled of how we, who were bought out of our bondage by Christ for a Blessed life fail to attain that due to lack of faith and obedience. Let us not keep wandering in the wilderness! Trust and Obey!
