📖 Verse of the day:

It seems Miriam and Aaron, Moses’ brother and sister, didn’t get along with Moses’ wife. You don’t have to look very hard to find in-laws that don’t get along. This seemed to be a family matter, but this was a family in the God-given position of leading God’s children out of Egypt and into the Promised Land, and, regrettably, Moses’ brother and sister went public with their family dispute.

Moses was married to a non-Israelite, and they felt that gave them enough ammunition to launch an attack against their brother. They were envious and jealous of his position. The seriousness of their sin is underscored by the short close of the verse: “And the LORD heard it.” How we need to remember that fact when we are tempted to speak out against someone. Simply put, GOD HEARS.

Miriam seems to have been leading the attack as God directs His judgment mainly toward her, striking her with leprosy. Exodus 15:20 tells us that Miriam was a prophetess among the people of God, and it was probably because of that position and the public nature of the attack that she experienced such an obvious, public reaping of the seeds of rebellion she had sowed among the people.

But grace and justice are both present here. We see grace in that God heard Moses’ cry on Miriam’s behalf and promised to heal her from the leprosy. And we see justice as the 7 days of waiting outside the camp, were fulfilled. And after the 7 days were up, Miriam was restored and brought back into the camp, and they moved on. So we all need to be very careful when criticizing any other believer, but especially one attempting to honestly serve the Lord by leading some ministry.

PRAYER 🙏
Heavenly father thank you for the word you have given us. LORD, please be a filter over our mouths and lips everyday in our life. Too often we are tempted to be quick to criticize and slow to encourage. Put Your words of life on our tongues for others, and enable us to spread love always like Christ.

The words you speak determine your destiny

All the Israelites wept aloud throughout the night when they heard the report from the men who were sent to explore the promised land. Numbers 14:2

They grumbled against Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly said to them,”if only we had died in Egypt! Or IN THIS Desert.Whether they really meant it or not, Jehovah heard what they said. Numbers 14:28 God said “As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very things I heard you say: In this desert your bodies will fall- every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me”.

They could reach the promised land with in a few months, but God made them wander in the wilderness for another 38 years till the last person in that generation died ,IN THE Desert as they had said.

Proverbs 18:21 says “The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Use the words wisely. Words of rebellion, murmuring and grumbling will block our blessings .They will hinder our mission of reaching the beautiful Canaan. May our hearts be filled with the Holy Spirit and our mouths speak the words of faith, praise and blessings.

Numbers 12:1-2 Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman. And they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has he not spoken through us also?” And the LORD heard it.

Here in Numbers 12 we find an evil accusation being brought against Moses by his own brother and sister.

According to verse 1, Aaron and Miriam spoke against Moses because he had married a Cushite (Ethiopian) woman.

It appears that jealousy of the power and influence of Moses was the real cause of their complaint.

We are told that Moses was very meek.
What does that mean? What did he do?

He kept quiet.
He did not take matters into his own hands; he put them into the Lord’s hands and left them with God.

So GOD himself takes up the business.
Miriam is stricken with a leprosy.
People who are jealous of someone will often try to point fingers at them.
When someone does something wrong, we can be all too quick to point fingers.

Blaming someone else for something is the easiest thing in the world to do.
It’s so easy to point out wrong in others.

One of the hardest three-word statements to make is “I am wrong.”
Pointing fingers in a relationship never works, either.
What happens when the finger is pointing at you?
You and I have done things wrong in our lives.
No one is perfect.
When you point a finger at someone, three fingers always point back at you.
What should we do when others point fingers at us?

Take a step back.
Pause when we are getting treated unfairly.
Honestly assess ourselves.
Admit we did wrong.
Pray for the accusers.
Let God handle the rest.

This will lead to humility and increase the Lord’s blessing in our life.
