Cursing parents?

If a man curses his father or mother, his lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness. Proverbs.20:20.

OR

If a man(/ women) blesses his father or mother, his(/her) lamp will be ignited even in pitch darkness.

All parents bring up child/ children by giving sacrificial love, care, education,..and leave hard earned wealth or property for them. But afterwards, many children instead of being thankful to their parents, ill treat them or curse them. Many children avoid giving proper food, clothing, medicineโ€ฆand even force them out of their home. Many parents are suffering or starving but their children are leading luxurious life. God’s word says God will punish such children.

His lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness. = whatsoever favour from the Lord he has enjoyed, it shall be taken from him, his lamp or candle of outward facility shall be quenched and burn no longer. The picture that of a hopeless destruction of property and life, a condemnation under the wrath of God. This is a threatening of heavy calamity.

Pitch darkness= complete darkness. It means in an area where there is no possiblity of seeing anything, utter blindness.

How we treat our parents greatly affects our future. God blesses those who honor their parents with a good life and a long life. He punishes or destroys those who curse or dishonor or ill treat their parents.

Let us see some other Bible verses related to this.

“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Exodus.20:12. The most certain means of extending our life on earth is to honor our parents. Read Exodus.21:17.

“Cursed is the man who dishonor his father or his mother “Then all the people shall say “Amen.” Deuteronomy 27:16.

Read Mathew.15:4;
2 Timothy.3:1-5.

Do we curse / bless our parents?

Is there anything we can do now, to show our love and thankfulness to our parents and grandparents?

๐Ÿ“– Proverbs 18 : 23

Wealth and the Problem of Pride.
Do Wealth and Pride always go hand in hand โ“ Some common by-products of WEALTH are pride and self-reliance, attitudes that can express themselves through harsh words.

WRONG CONCEPT OF BEING WEALTHY.
๐Ÿ“Œ It is easy to assume that financial and spiritual well-being run along parallel tracks, that satisfied stomachs mean satisfied souls. Pride is qnot only one of the most insidious of human vices but also the attitude underlying all sin.
๐Ÿ“Œ Mistaking Wealth, Ability, Power or Beauty – a sign of God’s blessing and approval.
๐Ÿ“Œ Man’s pride and will-to-power disturb the harmony of creation. The Bible says, “Pride comes before destruction”.

๐Ÿ“ In OT, King Solomon was described as one who had maximum blessings of God ; Wealth in abundance ; unlimited intellectual firepower and depth of soul ; the loyalty and approval of the people yet it did not last long. He became a bad steward and as a result he fall into personal disaster.
๐Ÿ“Œ Solomon’s life holds the classic lesson for people of privilege who start out as generous givers but who forgot the source of his wealth and wisdom in his pilgrimage.

HOW TO COMBAT THIS PRIDE โ“

๐Ÿ“Œ The Bible tells us that ๐Ÿ“ “every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Fatherโ€ฆ ” James 1:17 .
Let us not only focus on the gifts but be incline to focus and give thanks to the Giver.

๐Ÿ“ ” If we obey the Lord God and follow all his commands – He will send a blessing on our barns, livestock , land .. and on everything we put our hands ” Deut 28: 1,8,11-12 .
Let us try to be a good steward of His blessings and honor the Lord with our wealth Prov 3:9

๐Ÿ’ž Beloved Church, the Bible defines SIN in both religious and moral terms.
โœ… The religious dimension of sin is man’s rebellion against God, his effort to usurp the place of God ( through Wealth and its power )
โœ… The moral and social dimension of sin is injustice. A poor steward of wealth and authority will give birth to pride, and it will tend to do injustice/exploit others ( Rude and cruelty in words and in deeds )
๐Ÿ™ Let us seek God’s power to overcome the religious and moral dimensions of sins ๐Ÿ›

BE BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS ๐Ÿ™Œ

Glory to God ๐Ÿ™
