Proverbs 8:1 “Does not wisdom call…?”

The book of proverbs is classified as wisdom literature in the Bible.

In Proverbs 8, we find Wisdom is personified as a woman calling out in public places, not unlike the adulterous woman in Chapter 7. She is sometimes called Lady Wisdom.

Verse:1 tells us that wisdom is calling out.
Anyone who wants to know God’s will and wisdom can know it if they are willing to obey.

But gaining wisdom takes effort.
First, a person who wants the wisdom of God must commit himself to spending time in God’s word, seeking His wisdom.

Second, a person who desires wisdom must pray about every decision in life. God will give wisdom to people who seek Him.

Third, a person must make a decision to obey God at all times. Wisdom and obedience go together.

A British journalist once said,
“Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.”

Knowledge is knowing how to manage your money, budgeting, spending, saving.
Wisdom is understanding how money impacts the quality of our life and our future.

While knowledge is obtained, wisdom is developed.

Wisdom can be defined as “the right use of knowledge.” It’s the ability to apply knowledge and to make decisions based on experience and intuition.

Knowledge knows mistakes are part of life;
But Wisdom is not making the same mistake twice.

Knowledge knows the difference between being smart and stupid; Wisdom is that sometimes, when we want to be smart, we can make ourselves look stupid.

Knowledge knows how to manage our money, budgeting, spending, saving;
Wisdom understands how money impacts the quality of your life and your future.

Someone once said, “Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life.”

So ………… Acquire true wisdom and knowledge by …….
examine the Bible and the Bible will examine you;
read the Word of God and the Word of God will read you;
go through the Bible and the Bible will go through you;
abide in the Word and the Word will abide in you.

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

So the wisest thing we could ever do is to repent and trust in Christ for Christ is the true wisdom of God.
