The tongue has the power of life and death

🕯️ The Book of Proverbs 🕯️

Proverbs 18 – The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are safe. The tongue is a powerful weapon. It can MAKE or BREAK. The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit. He who finds a wife, finds what is good and receives favour from the Lord. There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 19 – Better is a man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse. A fake witness and a lying tongue will not go unpunished. A man’s wisdom gives him patience. Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and He will reward him for what he has done. Many are the plans in a man’s heart but it’s the Lord’s purpose that prevails. What a man desires is unfailing love.

Proverbs 20 – Man claims to have unfailing LOVE, but to have unfailing FAITH God’s grace and help is absolutely needed. No one could be absolutely pure and sinless. Only our actions will reveal whether our conduct is pure and right. Lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel far better than gold or rubies. Do not keep account of the wrongs done by others, wait on the Lord and He will deliver you. A man’s steps are directed by the Lord. The Lord searches out a man’s inmost being. Love and faithfulness keep a king safe. Through love his throne is made secure.

Proverbs 21 – The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord. The Lord only weighs the heart. To do what is right is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. The conduct of the innocent is right. When justice is done it brings joy to the righteous but terror to the evil doers. He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honour. The horse is made ready for battle but victory rests with the Lord.

Proverbs 22 – Rich and poor have this in common. The Lord is the Maker of them all. Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honour and life. Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it. A generous man will himself be blessed for he shares his food with the poor.
