God’s people rejoice because God is reigning

The Lord’s reign over the earth and over every situation should be a cause for rejoicing in this Covid Pandemic because of His sovereignty… Psalm 97:1.

🍂 How can we rejoice when we are struggling in life? When there are so many challenges in this pandemic, how can we rejoice? We can’t rejoice Thanksgiving and Christmas well, unless we have Christ in us. In Christ only we can face the crisis and in Christ only we can rejoice always, Philippians 4:4. To rejoice is a command. Joy is the Fruit of the Spirit and it is the attitude and character of Jesus Who faced the cross with joy, Hebrews 12:2.

🍂 Because the Lord reigns over all, His people should rejoice, but those who reject Him should fear His coming judgment, Psalm 97:1-6. We should not miss the truth that our gladness is “in the Lord.” He is the source of our joy. And that joy is only for the righteous, for those who walk in obedience to Him. So if we are not joyful, that means we are not walking in Him. In Psalm 97:11, though gladness is promised, it is a command in Psalm 97:12. We are commanded to be glad.

🍂 Child of God, Remember this, while God’s people rejoice because God is reigning, the idolaters hate the reign of God, Psalms 97:7-9. Let those who love Him hate evil and be glad in Him, Psalms 97:10-12. So in this world we will be surrounded by those who rejoice and those who don’t, because God is in control and is on the throne. It is up to us to choose whose group we belong to. Even in the midst of the pandemic, we can see those who rejoice in the Lord and those who break the rule of God and the rule of law just to live for their selfish ambition.

🍂 The Lord’s reign can only be a source of joy to us when we submit to Him. God wants the whole earth to be glad, including the remotest part of the world, Psalm 97:6. This is only possible if the good news of the Gospel is heard by all. The Psalmist is showing that the Lord’s reign is not limited to Israel. It extends to the far corners of the earth. This is a prophetic Psalm. The gospel displays the glory of Christ; the gospel is the message of Christ’s lordship. People cannot be saved if they do not willingly submit to the reign of Jesus Christ in their hearts, and they cannot be glad in all circumstances without being in Christ.

🍂 When people see us rejoicing in this pandemic situation because of God’s reign over the pandemic, it will be an opportunity to share the good news of the Gospel. Let people rejoice knowing Jesus and let them not fear death because death is a promotion for those who are in Christ Jesus. God reigns over everything, including the timing of our death. Without God there is no hope. Those who have hope can rejoice… Amen. 🙏
